me again, part 3 (yes I have 3 separate work emails, bc my clients actually enjoy working with me- tech means nurse in vet med, unlike human med- and i actually enjoy taking time out of my day to help them). as the tech was leaving ego bruise she mumbled either “no one uses 18g” or “i was gonna use 18g” I have no idea which one she said since she couldn’t look me in the eye and discuss it with me appropriately. The receptionist kept telling me “she didn’t even know what happened” maam you don’t need to “know what happened” i declined one test and approved the other, that is my patient right. The receptionist thoroughly enjoyed keeping me in the waiting room with no intention of helping me. I don’t want to say malpractice bc again McCay and Kasam were professional, caring, thorough, knowledgable, intelligent, skilled and personable. But I felt belittled, taunted and in danger. Not only did I not get the help I needed, they piled suffering upon my suffering. It’s just not a professional place. Kathy P gave me an email which I emailed with no response, so I am assuming this was a fake email? I am worse off then I was when I came in.

(this is a continuation of my previous review.) Furthermore, when asking the receptionist for help- can I ask the doctor if she can order the breath test without the blood test on it (since it upset her support staff so much)? I know she is very worried about me and wanted this done ASAP because she said so verbatim. The receptionist of course said no, because if she asks the doctor that question they will of course say yes duh? She continued to text on her personal phone vigorously (presumably about me. is this a HIPPA violation?) give me runarounds she doesn’t realize I recognize as an insider, and take fake phone calls at her desk- asking me to wait for 30 more minutes for her fake and personal phone calls because her fragile ego could not confront how wrong I was being treated and try to help or make it right in some way. The lab tech left for the day and there wouldn’t be another so I was just out of luck. If you need help, go just about anywhere else. If you want to spend hundreds of dollars, a few hours, be berated, frightened and belittled- just to end up back at square one- this is the place for you! The receptionist told me she had to look up her own name, then 10 minutes later told me it was Kathy P. I didn’t get the lab tech’s name but she was in her 20s, long hair & wearing crocs. BEWARE.

EDIT:manager called me, she is 5 ⭐️. Dr McCay & Kasam are fantastic. Their lab tech and receptionist clearly demonstrated themselves to be the kind of people who get into this line of work just to wear scrubs and assert their dominance upon the scared, sick and vulnerable. If you need help, I cannot recommend this practice. I came to them desperately needing help, excessively polite, and was metaphorically spit all over by their insecure fragile egos. Dr McCay ordered lab work for me requiring a blood sample and a breath sample. When it came time to draw my blood, the assistant was clearly in a rush- fine no biggie. She was about to draw my blood and I saw a very large needle with a green hub. I am a Fear Free certified Licensed Veterinary Technician with over a decade of experience in exceptionally challenging and compassionate phlebotomy. She needed me to keep my arm straight- amateur I thought. She gets a naked, consenting human arm with a tourniquet presented exactly where she would like it to be. As I saw an 18g needle approaching (about 3-5 sizes too big for me) I had a reflex, and took my arm back. I very politely asked if it was an 18g needle. She said “no, stay still” and continued approaching. Now I decided to take my arm back and asked what size it was? She said “you can’t move”. I said I would like to decline bloodwork today and just proceed with the breath test SO POLITELY with my quiet voice shaking. Purposefully never raising my voice nor speaking outside of facts. I just needed help but anything larger than 19g is legally assault, so I just wanted to be assured that I wasn’t about to be assaulted. The biggest benefit of the doubt I could give her is that she was going to draw with something smaller but use an 18g to get the blood into in the tubes, but I know all I saw was an 18g needle coming towards me. I may or may not have been wrong, but I deserve the right to ask about what she is about to put inside of my body and be treated with respect. She should have the competence confidence and compassion to answer my question appropriately, and I later found out she was in a rush to leave for the day as her shift was almost over. She then told me that she wouldn’t do my breath test unless I did the blood test (?). I said my doctor has already ordered both, I declined one and would like to proceed with the other. The receptionist came over and together they thought I was born yesterday and told me that the doctor can’t read the breath test (unrelated, H. Pylori) results because the blood will say “incomplete”. I told them I understood and she can just interpret whatever results we get and go from there. Since my job is open 7 days a week, this was my one business day off coming up in the next month, I really needed to get help today so at least this would be a start. They told me this was impossible as if I were stupid, and clearly proud of their corrupt use of power. Clearly I hurt her ego by politely declining her horrendous bedside manner so she didn’t feel like helping me anymore. My patients are dogs and cats. They are covered in fur, running around the room trying to bite me, and I have not missed a vein in years (12 hour days, 3-4x week, 51 weeks a year, for over a decade). So no maam I don’t need to “stay still” to accommodate your inexperience, you need to answer my very valid polite question about what is entering my body right now and respect my human reflexes. She has a lot to learn about helping people, or if she is even in the right line of work. I assume this also has to do with blood drawing being fun & a breath test presumably not as fun for the tech. If she enjoys inflicting pain and only working with needles for her own sadistic enjoyment, maybe look into tattooing. Being Fear Free, I vow to take the most compassionate and gentle approach to every single patient doing everything I can to reduce their fear, anxiety and stress. My patients can never tell on me, never write me a bad review online; I just do it because it is the right thing to do and was expecting a little taste of the same.

If i could give a rating of zero stars I would. I went in fist thing as the office opened on Saturday. No patients waiting. I explained my issue to the receptionist and she left to check with the doctor. She returns and says go to the ER because the provider would need imaging, and we can’t do it here. I asked about getting examined and getting the order for the imaging so i could go direct to have it done. Again, receptionist leaves for 5 minutes to speak to provider. She returns and says no we won’t see you. Avoid this place. Waste of time. Bert poor patient care.

Not an urgent care even though they labeled themselves as the immediate care.
