We love going to Smileville for pediatric dentistry! My son, who has a sensory disorder, has been coming for 3 years. Each hygienist my son has seen has been gentle, explained each step to him, allowed him to wear the X-ray vest to give the input and calming he needs. They also give him breaks as needed. Dr. Kim is fabulous as well. She shares all the images, explains them thoroughly and lets us know the plan for our next visit. My son recently went in for sealant on his teeth, which can be overwhelming. Chelsea was just amazing. She also explained each step she was doing along the way, turned up the tv, worked super quickly and efficiently, and was really patient when my kiddo needed a rinse and suction. We are so thankful we found such a friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and experienced dental practice. I highly recommend this practice, especially for children with special needs.

Damon is great. He is very professional and has gentle hands when cleaning my teeth. He is my technician of choice every time. The other technicians are also really patient and caring when cleaning the teeth of my three children. The dentist is good at explaining our dental health and treatment recommendations.

Unprofessional and disorganized scheduling staff. I am a repeat patient, I've been going here for years, made an appointment for a check up for 2 patients, same day back to back. Confirmed the appointment twice, took off work to be present. Received a phone call 3 hours before appointment that I am now being classified as a new patient and need to bring a form/letter from a specialist in order to get the cleaning. Mind you I am a repeat patient, no conditions, nothing has changed since last visit. Asked why I am being classified as a new patient and being required to bring new forms, to which there is no clear answer. I am unwilling to pay money to see a specialist for no reason and also 3 hours before my appointment. I am being given these ridiculous requirements, in addition to being reclassified as a new patient. For what? What is this about? So I requested to get this appointment cancelled and move along with the second persons appointment to which I was told if I cancel person 1's, appointment then I have to cancel person 2's appointment also. Excuse me? Without any explanation. So I went ahead and cancelled both. Word of advice your front line staff is the face of your practice. They follow instructions as given and complete tasks as directed. However, they struggle to explain the reasoning behind their actions or decisions. They rely heavily on guidance from others rather than independent thinking or problem-solving. With more confidence and understanding of the “why” behind their work, they could become more effective and self-sufficient. Because of their unwillingness to do so , you just lost 3 clients you could have had for the nest 12-13 years and over $50K you just threw away. Train your staff.

Just a heads up - the office manager from Smileville emailed me to ask that I remove this. I highly recommended you go somewhere else. ** update: after calling my Insurance no leas than 2 times and Smileville about 10 in 4 months to actually, talk to someone I actually was able to pay just what i owed, what a pain! BUT today, that same tooth that was fixed less than 6 months ago we are now having fixed by another dentist because my son is in so much pain. Please go somewhere else, save you and your child the pain. —— I’m really disappointed to be writing this because the dentists and hygienists at Smileville are truly wonderful. Unfortunately, the billing and front desk experience has been frustrating and confusing. My son was treated here in June, and I paid the amount requested at checkout. Two months later, I received a bill that already had late fees and was about $30 higher than what my insurance Explanation of Benefits showed I owed. After several calls and follow-ups, I was told by staff they could charge above the EOB amount — something my insurance company later confirmed was not correct. I’ve filed a complaint with the Virginia State Corporation Commission because I still haven’t received a corrected bill or a working payment link. It’s really unfortunate that such great dental care is overshadowed by poor and misleading billing practices.

My family and I love Smileville Family Dentistry and have used them for going on15+ years. I recently had a tooth emergency that needed an assessment by Dr. Sharafi before I departed on an overseas trip. He made the time to see me, listen to my problem, and developed a treatment plan to ensure I could make my trip in peace and comfort. His plan included taking care of the tooth completely once I returned from overseas with a crown. It was a busy Friday morning when I showed up without an appointment but they fit me in and performed the emergency work necessary to get me through the weekend and on the plane. It is that kind of service and the years of trust we have built up with Dr. Mina and Dr. Sharafi that we are not only customers but we feel apart of the Smileville family. Our kids enjoy going to the dentists at Smileville. You cannot say that with every family and general dentist practice.
