My oldest son had a good experience at Dr. Tews office. He was very caring and explained what steps we needed for my son's treatments

Avoid Dr. Tew. If I say I don't want my child to feel pain, and you talk me out of it and act like I'm being difficult, shame on you. Why deny a child the ability to sleep through his tooth being pulled? I don't care that you "saved us a buck". I expect you to treat me as a partner in my child’s care. When a parent raises a concern, that should matter. My child cannot advocate for himself. Dismissing a parent’s concern is unacceptable. All there is to do is give a damn good apology to both me and my son and outline how you will ensure this never happens again. Please don't call. I do not have anything more to say.
EDIT: No, we did not agree it was unnecessary to undergo IV sedation. There was no discussion of ethics. In fact, on the topic of ethics, what happened to do no harm? Is this paternalistic care? Does the input of the patient not matter? I said, "I want pain free, and I don't care how much it costs." You said oral sedation would "achieve my goals and save me some money". You misrepresented the degree of sedation you would be giving, and I begrudgingly relented, as even your assistant would note. Just because Dr. Emily did a good job doesn't mean my child didn't lurch from the pain of the extraction and cry about it all day. The tooth was not loose. You said it had a small hole where a cavity could have gotten in. But wait, Dr. Emily looked at his x rays from a year ago and had to explain it looks more like reabsorption a tooth growing in. He was told, by you, it would be an easy procedure. Would you like me to continue with the other issues you presented? Because I have more. This was simply my breaking point. Take a look at your communication and your honesty. And your ethics, for that matter. Is apologizing against your ethics too? Or are you so convinced you are right because you are the dentist and the parent’s values do not matter to you? Because you can decide someone else’s pain threshold? Again, shame on you.
Also, are you going to continue to reveal medical data that I had not disclosed in my review? Noted.
Two stars as opposed to one given because Dr. Emily and the assistants are high quality people.
