Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

I went to get new glasses and spoke with the eye doctor about trying contacts for the first time I went in for my first consultation with trying to learn how to use contacts, at first working with the young lady that was teaching me. I felt a bit overwhelmed after 30 minutes of trying I could not do it. I request requested to see if the Dr. could assist me with putting them on. He was so patient so kind to where I was able to calm down with my anxiety that was building up. I was able to put the contacts in with that alone, made my experience so much nicer that he took his time to teach me. Thank you !
