  Very hard to get in contact with anyone, very frustrating being told one thing and they your kiddos spot in class was given to someone else.

  Prior to the pandemic, the Heart of the Valley YMCA's open gymnastics gym was a valuable community resource. Since then, access has been restricted exclusively to children actively enrolled in gymnastics programs. This inegalitarian approach shuts out member families who need a safe, equipped space but do not require formal classes. For example, children with motor disabilities—who may never enroll in a formal class—could use this environment to safely practice new movements. This restrictive policy contradicts what the YMCA should stand for: inclusivity and access for all. Member facilities should be available to all members, not just an exclusive subset.
