The lifeguard Katie tried to tell me that my 2 year old could not go swimming in the pool or use the splash pad just because I had him in a little swimmer, and not in swimming trunks. I protested that because I have been bringing him to the pool with little swimmers and a life jacket for 2 months now, and no one else but her said one thing about it. She then continued to single out my 3 children and nit picking on them, and also trying to over talk me when I was handling the situation with my children. She made this fun swim outing so uncomfortable that after a while I just decided to leave. I don’t understand why she was having such an attitude today, but it was enough for me to possibly seek out other ymca options in the valley.

This YMCA caters to the daycare and if you are a parent or guardian trying to find a place to play with your little ones during the day, this is not the place. We became members almost entirely as a place to go with our grandson. And we noticed that during the day, even when the schedule posts that an area is open, it might not be, the daycare gets first dibs. So the splashpad for instance is listed as open until 2:30. We came at 10:30 and we were kicked out for a class. (This was also the week they opened the Y up to kids in the community.) Another day we came at 2:30 to play in the family center, we were kicked out for a class and there were no other open spaces to play. The gyms, pools, and playlands are pretty much at the whim of the daycare until 6pm. So if you are a daytime care giver, the Y is not going to have open play spaces for young people until after 6pm. Today when we complained that the schedules are not accurate the Hero worker's response was, “I lost my house in a tornado, things change.” This person may not be ready to be at work, but also a business and an act of nature are not the same. You can correct bad business habits, you cannot change the weather. If you want to take young kids somewhere during the day to play, the YMCA is not the place to go.

The staff here is exceptional. The amenities are great. Sauna/hot tub/pool/Steam room/Towel service. Large locker room plenty of space. Cleanliness is 8.5 out of 10. I gave a three star review because they charge more based on your age. My membership went from $35 a month to $59 a month. Just because I turned another year older. So I canceled and went to another gym. I would still be working out here if they did not change the price of my membership based on my age.
