Staff needs to understand that they deal with patients daily and knows the technical terms used such as medical insurance, routine check etc BUT the patients DOES NOT deal with them on a daily basis . It is their job to explain the patients about what their insurance will cover and what not ! Bottom line it’s the patients who has to pay from their pocket and not them . So instead of being defensive and twisting medical terms to patients, have courtesy to understand that during this pandemic times we all have financial difficulties. My husband’s lenses were scratched we wanted new lenses and I wanted a new reading glass .they charged us $488 because I’m diabetic . My insurance clearly says free annual eye exam and it only won’t be covered if I have complications in my eye sight due to diabetes ! In my case there was no complications at all . So after all was done we were told we have to pay co payment of $500 but because we are repeated customers then it’s $488 .. I asked why co payment ? And that’s where twisting of medical words came in .. my point is what if we did not have that much money at that time ?? I was diabetic during my last visit too why wasn’t I charged the co payment then ? And most importantly when we came in instead of using all your medical terms just be specific and be on the point to tell patients before hand that you are expected to pay the co payment etc .Explain your patients before hand instead of giving them a shock after all is done and it’s too late for patients to say no I can’t afford it this time .. all I wanted was a reading glass prescription which Tru Vision gave me previously and I paid for the lens and frame NOT the co payment .. I was diabetic back then too.. my diabetic eye exam is done annually by my primary care provider . I did not go to Tru vision for a diabetic eye exam , I went there for my reading glass prescription. If I had complications in my eyes due to diabetes , then my primary care doctor would refer me to them for an eye glass but that wasn’t the case here . I was NOT referred to them , I only went to them for a reading glass prescription which was 100% covered by my insurance.. so overall Tru Vision has let me down .. and to the future patients please when u go there ask them to explain about the costs paid out of your pocket first .. be specific as to what u want done by them .. they made me feel like it’s an offense to be a diabetic during my this visit so pay a co Payment .. but it was all ok during my last visit so don’t pay a co payment ! And then when u call or ask them in person , they use your words against you and use all the medical terms to defend themselves but all they had to do was have little courtesy and understanding and explain their customers about the out of pocket payments .. on a good note Lens Crafters service was awesome... had no problems with the insurance.
