Booked a couples massage and, unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations. To start, the massage room had thin sliding doors, so we could clearly hear everything happening in the hallway. This made it difficult to fully relax. There was also no one consistently at the front desk, so our massage was paused while staff left to answer the door.
Throughout the session, the therapists frequently left the room to grab supplies. While I understand that some services require additional items, in my past experiences everything has typically been prepared in advance to avoid interrupting the massage. The therapists also had conversations with each other during the session, which became distracting.
The massage itself also felt very rushed. While the back massage was decent, the front portion was almost nonexistent. My legs, both front and back, were barely massaged, which left the treatment feeling incomplete and not as thorough as we expected.
Another surprise was being charged an additional $10 per person for massage oil. We’ve never experienced an extra charge for oil before, so that felt unnecessary.
Finally, when it came time to pay, we chose to tip 10% based on our overall experience. The front desk employee then had my husband go back to the tipping screen, which displayed options of 20%, 40%, and 50%. We left feeling uncomfortable, as it seemed like we were being encouraged to increase our tip. Regardless of the amount, tipping should be left to the customer’s discretion without added pressure.
The experience started off on a positive note, and the staff was friendly initially, but once the massage began, the repeated interruptions, rushed service, and overall quality took away from what should have been a relaxing experience. Unfortunately, this was not the experience we were hoping for.
