  As a regular gym-goer, I signed up for a trial to see if Pure Barre would be a good addition to my regular workout routine. The workout itself was challenging and fun, and the community is wonderfully diverse. I really appreciated the instructor correcting everyone's form throughout the session. However, their sales tactic is incredibly pushy and a turnoff. After the class, I was pulled aside and pressured to commit on the spot, being offered a same day deal (which was just waiving the signup fee) despite letting the staff know that I was still exploring my options. It's been 6 weeks since the trial class and I continue to receive follow up calls every 5-7 days after I already indicated to be unsubscribed from further contact. Out of all the studios I've tried, this was the only studio who was was so aggressive in trying to get me to signup. I will not be returning to this studio anytime soon.

  I unfortunately need to update my first review. I still think that the classes are fun and the instructors are great, but my two star review is due to management. After being a member for a little over a year, I hurt my back during a Define class. I was unable to exercise for weeks. I contacted the branch management and it was a very frustrating experience. I first tried to pause my membership and I had just paid the monthly membership, but they said that I wouldn't be able to pause until the next payment cycle. My next request was to downgrade my membership, since I was hoping to slowly go back to exercising. Again, there was a rule I was never verbally told about when I signed up (they did go over the cancellation policy), in which I need to give a month advance notice to downgrade my membership. Note that this rule doesn't apply for membership upgrades, which to me says much about who the policies are tailored for. After much back and forth, I decided to cancel. I basically had to pay $230 for an unlimited membership for two months, when I was only able to take two classes. If you're considering signing up, I urge you to consider carefully. There is no flexibility from management for emergencies - including medical ones - and the membership is fairly expensive compared to other exercise options.
