An underrated aspect of gyms is respectful management, because every gym has different rules and it can be hard to know what you're allowed and not allowed to do. Especially as a woman of color, I've had more than one experience with employees of an establishment going out of their way to humiliate me when enforcing a policy when I truly never meant to break any rules, and will always profusely apologize if I do and won't do it again. Yesterday, I missed the sign that said the Fit360 room was an exclusive space for people who paid for personal training, which I don't. The manager, Eddie, caught me during his rounds (shoutout to tidy and vigilant management, btw), and was extremely kind and respectful letting me know I wasn't allowed to be there, and even asked if I needed anything or needed guidance to equivalent equipment outside of the Fit360 room to continue my workout. It was extremely refreshing and I appreciated it so much, because I did feel quite silly missing the pretty obvious sign. Additionally, the gym is very clean, robust, and well-maintained, on top of being well-managed. I will definitely be back again!

Onelife especially the Redmill location is great! Every time I come in I’m greeted by friendly people and I always feel welcome. Eddie and all the managers have always been helpful and kind to me!

I’ve been a member of Onelife Fitness for years, and this was honestly one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had at any gym. Tonight at the Virginia Beach location, manager Eddie kicked me and my little brother out of an empty Fit360 room on a Saturday night right before closing while the gym itself was EMPTY. No class was going on, nobody was using the room, and there was no legitimate reason to treat paying members that way. What made it worse was the attitude and dishonesty. Eddie tried to blame “management,” when he himself was the manager on duty making the decision. The whole interaction felt targeted, unnecessary, and extremely unprofessional. I hate even having to say this, but the way we were singled out genuinely felt discriminatory. Out of all the Onelife locations in Hampton Roads, this is the only one where I’ve ever experienced staff policing members like this over an empty room. Even the area being for training. Obviously I would avoid if it’s a busy time at the gym or a class happening. Long time loyal members should be treated with respect, not pushed around during dead hours in an empty gym. Hopefully the GM reaches out because this situation was handled terribly.

I had a very disappointing experience at Onelife Fitness Red Mill. I received a free 1-day pass and came in excited to try the gym because I was seriously considering starting a membership afterward. When I arrived, a staff member (I believe his name was Jacob, possibly the manager) told me I had to pay $20 to use the free day pass. The interaction felt rude and unwelcoming from the start. Instead of helping or explaining things politely, he seemed to be looking for reasons to turn me away rather than helping a potential new member. It’s really unfortunate because the gym itself looks beautiful and I was genuinely interested in joining. First impressions matter, and the customer service I received made me feel unwelcome and discouraged from signing up. I hope management takes feedback like this seriously and works on improving how potential members are treated.
