The staff member working with her was noticeably impatient and did not demonstrate the understanding or compassion needed when working with adults with autism. Medical appointments can already be stressful, and patients deserve to be treated with patience, respect, and kindness. I strongly encourage additional training for staff on how to appropriately support and communicate with individuals on the autism spectrum to ensure a more positive experience for future patients.
