Shawn Gellner is one of the nicest technician I’ve met in a very long time!!! He showed me how to maneuver, my new wheelchair, you showed me how to get it in and out of the house without making me feel overwhelmed. He was very patient very kind and I truly appreciate that. I say give Shawn a star rating of 10.

Most DME vendors have problems. This place is one of the worst, though. The technicians are great. But the office drops the ball over and over. Appointments are maybe 50/50 that someone actually shows up. You have to do your own shepherding of work orders to make sure they actually move through the pipeline. Overall, extremely frustrating to work with.

***UPDATE 6/5/26***
I want to give a shout out about Rehab Technician Shawn Gellner. I hadn't had my new chair for very long before I accidentally ran over my seat belt! I had to call the office and have them order a replacement. A few days later Shawn was at my door ready to install the seat belt. While it was being installed, Shawn showed me a few ways to keep my seatbelt safely stowed when not using it. He also educated me about the best way to get a long life out of my battery. He was super personable and was so kind to my kitty, who had attached herself to Shawn while he was working! Shawn also provided me with his card so in the event something else happens I now have the most direct route to getting the problem repaired!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Through my experience with National Seating and Mobility, I can honestly say that they are a business you can put your trust in. They worked with my insurance, and kept me informed throughout the entire process of obtaining my motorized wheelchair. Jake Keckley answered all my questions when my chair was delivered, and Kimberly Simpkins kept me informed during the purchase process as we got insurance to pay for the chair. I really couldn't have asked for better service!
I can't put into words how amazing it is to regain my mobility. I feel like some personal dignity has been restored to me. I'm super thrilled with my new chair! It's simply life changing. Thank you!
Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
