Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

I've been receiving my prescriptions from Gateway Kroger pharmacy for years- it is a convenient location. Unfortunately, in the past year the service has declined- prolonged wait time, barriers to obtain rx meds, minimal customer service skills displayed by staff, inconsistent information provided by staff who also seem to personalize expressed frustrations over the presenting barriers/issues. Pharmacy staff usually state " that's our policy"- then have a written notification (or brochure) at the pick- up window inside and/or drive-thru window stating your policies- (i.e. Pseudophredrine must be obtained inside)... nothing more frustrating to wait on rx meds (after doctor visit due to illness) while inside Kroger to then go through drive-thru (due to wait time) to pickup rx meds and Pseudophredrine to then be told I have to come back inside the store to get Pseudophredrine. Also, it would be helpful to ensure staff are adequately educated on certain medications, not controlled substances in this instance, must be written on the rx to combine quantity of refills. Not everyone has the availability be an ongoing liaison between doctor and pharmacy. This pharmacy is not open to feedback or to hear your experience rather you are in the wrong and they are right. Good to know that Kroger has a headquarters and a customer advocate who is willing to hear your direct experience. A medication keosk dispensary would be more beneficial at this point or transferring to another pharmacy with a higher rating.

This location consistently lacks adequate staffing, resulting in long wait times and poor service. I would not recommend this pharmacy based on my experience

KROGER is in the Bonsack area off of 460E. The Drive Thru is located on the LEFT SIDE of bldg. It is accessible from the front entrance driving towards the backside of Kroger. Unfortunately, it was closed for a time when workers were few almost EVERYWHERE. It has reopened.

The staff is short handed the management needs to add way more employees to accommodate the volume of orders. Big Box stores have eliminated smaller competition so I miss the personal contact from the pharmacist needed at times. I did not appreciate the comments made between employees when I went to pick up pain medication for my mom they said that it is only pain medicine he can wait. I also have have called in advance to pick up her meds and they would tell me a time and I always gave them an hour more and every single time it was not ready. If this is thie policy they need to inform the customer they cant fill it until arrival it is very flustrsting. btw...answer the phone > 1 star rating
