  A little over a year ago we moved over to Giant Pharmacy from using Walgreens and Harris Teeter. It took forever to get a ything filled at Walgreens. They seemed to be perpetually understaffed and the people there weren't that good, probably due to lack of training. They would also run of of meds and take a long time to restock. Harris Teeter was always too busy and seemed more expensive. When we moved to Giant Pharmacy they were great. Over the past several months they have been horrible. Meds weren't ready even when notified. I would call ahead to confirm pickup for something days in advance and it wouldn't be ready. I recently had major back surgery requiring pain meds refill. They said the prescription would be ready on Saturday. Then they said Sunday. On Sunday they said they were out of stock and it may be a few more days. I talked to the pharmacist and asked if I needed to go to the ER because they said they couldn’t transfer the prescription I serious pain is an issue. Then she said she could partially refill it then. I said ok. I went to pick it up and got the full prescribed amount. The pharmacist was out and out lying. Apparently playing some game. I called yesterday to confirm something would be ready for pickup tomorrow. They said absolutely it would be ready. I have no confidence it will be and I will go thru the same chaos again. They also need to have some people get trained on phone etiquette. Most of them are OK, but a couple are both lazy and rude.

  I called to check when my prescription would be ready and was told it had already been picked up, which left me extremely confused. This medication requires an ID because it is a controlled substance. Shortly after, I received a call from another patient who had accidentally been given my prescription when picking up medication for their child. I called the pharmacy back to report the error and was simply told “your medication is ready,” with no apology, explanation, or acknowledgement of the seriousness of the situation. This involved a controlled substance and a clear verification failure, as well as a breach of patient privacy under HIPAA. Very disappointing experience and concerning from a safety standpoint.

  Getting someone else’s medication is a big Hippa Violation!! Grateful we looked at the medicine before our 9 year old took it!!!
