Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

Doctor called in th prescription at 9. Said it would be ready at 12. I get there at 1:35 and they say it’s not ready come back in ten minutes. Well now a line is forming so I just get back in line for another 10 minutes. Guess what? When I get to the window they still have me wait a couple of minutes while they are shuffling around back there. My guess is they didn’t even get it ready in the ten minutes and just did it last minute while I was at the window. All for two little pills. It’s okay, I only have a 3 year old vomitting at home, so no rush right? What I don’t understand is this happens every time. They never have a prescription ready, no matter when I go get it, they always tell me ten minutes because they truth is they don’t prep prescriptions until they get there. Honestly it’s just time to find a better pharmacy because I’m tired of all the waiting.

I have been going to this pharmacy for 9 years and they are always outstanding. They go above and beyond almost every time I pick up a medication. I've had complex insurance for many years and they are always willing to double check to make sure they account for every penny covered so they can make sure I don't pay too much. They have contacted doctor's offices for me, have searched at other Smith's locations, submitted for medications to be ordered as soon as possible when no one - no other companies - have had them, offered to fill medications sooner than they needed to, and been so nice and friendly while taking care of these situations. The industry of pharmacies is really complicated and customers are already hurting, sick, and tired when they get to the pharmacy, but this team has never taken that out on their customers. At times they are rushed doing their best to help customers in spite of working with very difficult situations. Medications classified as controlled substances create limitations on how prescriptions can be filled and how well any pharmacy, whether Costco, Walmart, or Walgreens can fill them. I have at times gone to those other pharmacies and always always come back to getting my prescriptions at this pharmacy because I have so much faith in them because they handle these complexities better than other pharmacies. And often when there is a wait, it's because they are doing their best assisting customers with these difficult situations. And I'm speaking from my own experience as well as other people I know or have talked to. I literally go out of my way to get my prescriptions from here even when other pharmacy locations are easier to get to. And even when I'm shopping for groceries at other stores, I will still go to this Smith's Marketplace because I know they will help with anything that comes up even when it's out of their control. The process to call Smith's automated phone line to get a prescription from Smith's Pharmacy does not work, but that is a Smiths company issue and so I always opt to speak to someone in person and they are never frustrated to look up my medication refills and get them ready. And they always offer to get them ready faster than what options the automated system will give you. So basically, I'm super grateful to this team for being so professional and compassionate in spite of working in a very difficult industry.

I just always have such awesome experience when I deal with the women that work here. Tomi is is my absolute favorite! Such a sweet woman. Such a big loving heart. Really easy to talk to. Super knowledgable. Just the best at her job and always so professional. I love when I have to go in and get my meds filled ; ) She's the type of woman you pray that she knows how freaking awesome she is and the happy, positive impact she has in the people she deals with on a daily basis. I also get to deal with Lisa. She is pretty freakin awesome, too. Happy. Positive. Knowledgable. Respectful. Professional. And then one of the other woman that also hepled me today was just amazing, as well. I didn't catch her name, but she wears all black scrubs and was just awesome to talk to and interact with. I dont want to leave anyone out...there are several other woman that have been working there for quite some time that are freaking awesome to deal with too. I think it's crazy to see so many cool and awesome people all working together at one place. Like the hiring department is on point, or just amazingly lucky, when it comes to finding such great prople to come work for them. Like I just wish the HR departments at all these other pharmacies knew how to find and hire gems like this. They would absolutely triple or quadruple their customers. They are truly people that make this world a better place. You could seriously cut the cost of my meds in half and try to send me to a different pharmacy and would still show up to the Saratoga Springs pharmacy....every time!
