Great place! Got sick and they had my prescription ready in under an hour! They ran it theough a different insurance program (I guess) and they got me my prescription for free! Good people as well, hardworking and polite.

My doctor is helping me safely get sober from alcohol, I had a seizure this past Monday and realized I have to stop drinking, so my doctor is supervising my medical detox from alcohol with Lorazepam. My doctor prescribes me day by day, tapering as safe and well tolerated. Tonight, the pharmacist refused to fill my 7 tablets (down from 8 the day before filled at the exact same HEB), citing that she “felt weird about filling my prescription” saying it was “unusual” and she didn’t want to fill the prescription, and outright refused to. I asked her why there was an issue, and explained that I am being helped off of alcohol and trying to do the responsible thing, and that my prescriptions (and doctors appointments) are daily to manage the taper down so I wouldn’t have any medication for the next day if she refused to fill my prescription, and she basically said she didn’t trust my doctor or the situation and she admitted that was only her OPINION. I clarified that it was her opinion and not some policy to make sure I was understanding the situation correctly. I explained how as a pharmacist she should know that abruptly discontinuing benzodiazepine medication can be deadly, and considering I had already been through a seizure Monday, I was feeling pretty scared at what would happen to me being cut off for no reason other than a misanthropic pharmacist's hunch. Not that it should matter, but I came in business attire because I need to pick up my prescriptions each night for the next day after work at the office, and was entirely polite and pleasant until I became legitimately scared for what could happen to me if I had to stop dead my treatment. Despite being scared I was NEVER rude or condescending, just advocating for myself and trying to explain my situation. She didn’t seem to care until I mentioned again how dangerous her “opinion” was to my health, and if I did most likely have a medical complication the next day that the first thing I would do is file a lawsuit. She reluctantly filled the prescription and said I’m never allowed back at her Pharmacy again. I told her that her opinions are dangerous and are going to hurt innocent people who don’t deserve it in the future. When I said that she clapped at me like she was giving some rude applause or congratulations. She is not fit for supervising a pharmacy, nor having any judgement over what a doctor deems a necessary treatment for their patient. I can imagine red flags going up for large quantities of narcotics being prescribed to non sick individuals but this was for 7 tablets of lorazepam, just part of a medical taper to help me stay sober from alcohol safely and for good. Any pharmacist capable of critical thinking could have deduced that I wasn’t there for anything unjustified in the slightest, I also needed to pick up my desonide cream for my face! I’m appalled at the behavior of this woman, her trying to play some kind of hero in her mind is going to put more patients like my self in legitimately dangerous situations. This could have turned out much, much worse than it did, had I had a seizure the next morning with no one around to know and hurt myself, or gone into DT’s and who knows what that could have done to me either. I’m pretty sad about this, and I feel discriminated and made out to be a criminal when I’m very, very clearly trying to do the best thing I can for my health and my life, to get off alcohol and get back to the sobriety I had before so had relapsed. I felt so hurt by the pharmacists actions towards me, I wasn’t able to sleep due to the situation playing out over and over in my mind. I hope action is taken against Lanchi Thai, because everyone will have a better chance at being healthier (and safer) without her managing a pharmacy, or really even working in pharmacy in general. She is a liability to HEB, as well as the patients needing medicine deemed appropriate and necessary by their doctors.
My review is apparently too long so I will finish the review on my next post:

Harassed, belittled, embarrassed, and discrimination! This is my experience at this pharmacy on 3 occasions at this store today. I gave them a two star because the pharmacist was accommodating after I engaged her. She demonstrated her knowledge of the insurance process which her personnel failed to do. I went there to pick up my wife’s prescriptions. When I got there, I gave the lady my wife’s insurance card. She immediately told me she needed more information than were on the card. I was puzzled because I have this insurance for almost 20 years. During this time, I used many pharmacies and was never required to provide anymore information that the DOD benefit number. I told her she would have to call the insurance company because I didn’t know what else she required. Well, she got on the phone with the insurance company then she came back and told me the insurance is not valid. My blood pressure spiked but I held my composure and went outside to call the insurance company. My information, which I knew, checked out correctly. I went back into the store. The lady wasn’t there so I spoke to a man. He refused to even let me explain what was going on I left. At the time, I decided that I move my prescriptions to another pharmacy and be done with HEB Pharmacy. On my way home, I decided to call the Pharmacist. Although she tried to defend her people’s action, knew exactly what to do and told me to return to the store and she would take care of it. Her reaction gave me mixed emotions because she was there and I am sure she over heard the conversation but never intervene to correct the problem. I was in no condition to return to the store immediately so I waited until I calm down. I went back to the store and asked for the pharmacist a couple hours later. She had left for the day but the associate pharmacist stepped in to represent her. She tried to present the same augment as the employees did earlier and became very defensive when I told her she was applying g the wrong process to my insurance company. She totally disregarded me and turned to my wife and asked her if she was the primary policyholder. I told her I was the primary policyholder and asked her to call the pharmacist. After speaking with the pharmacist she said spelling of my wife’s name was incorrect on the prescription request. She tried to pass the buck by blaming the clinic instead of accepting and fixing their failure to recognize that my wife’s was spelled correctly on her ID and the insurance card. This is the type of harassment that black men are confronted with daily. I know this woman’s attitude and reaction would’ve been different if I was white, Chinese, or Hispanic. Black men are constantly put in these situations where we have to be on the defense. It’s not because we are angry or want to be angry. We are always ready for the next situation regardless of how right we are.
