Store opened 6hrs late! Got a bad recommendation on a product from employee. Tried to return the product a couple days later and was told that the store doesn’t do returns.

Great place for vitamins and minerals. Only gave 4 stars due to the high expense of everything. Personnel working there are very nice and informative & don't appear to be on steroids.

The manager's name is Joe and he's terrific. Everything I've seen from him demonstrates that he is truly interested in helping people. More than once he has steered me away from products which were not in my best interest. You can tell by talking to him that Joe is informed. He knows what he's talking about. The other staff there seem only interested in sales (I believe they work on commission) and could actually care less about helping anyone. The reason I have come to that conclusion is because I have been sold stuff there that made no discernible difference in my physical results, yet they were very expensive. So thanks to them, I wasted my money. My conclusion is that they are not informed, but just mindlessly parroting a bunch of hype. But worse is that each time I come in — when Joe has not been there — the sales staff were very aggressive in my opinion. They consistently make a BIG (unnatural) point out of just saying hello and they come off as so obviously insincere I just can't stand it. The last guy I encountered started cranking up his interrogation before I could even get both feet inside the door. His first question was, "Hi-what-are-you-looking-for?!?" That's not a question I want to hear from a high-pressure salesman even before I'm inside the store. I told him it was none of his business. His job is to provide assistance if I need or want it. I asked him why everyone there (except Joe) all acts so crazy and he told me they were instructed to "greet" customers within 10 seconds. I told him there is a big difference between "greeting" a customer and initiating a high-pressure sales pitch. I think everyone there ought to walk into the Vitamin Shoppe if they want to hear how a natural hello sounds. And then they need to knock off the insincerity and especially knock off interrogating customers. I have been a loyal customer at GNC for 1.5 years and I've never spend less than $250 in any visit. For that kind of money I don't want to have to deal with insincerity or receive an interrogation. If everyone there was like Joe, or even if they would simply leave me alone after calmly saying hi like a normal person would do, I would have gladly remained a customer for life. Message to corporate: You are the problem.
