Public Feedback: Customer Service & Policy Experience at GNC Store #01933
Note: I am sharing this so our community is aware of these practices. I am not asking for discipline, but proper team training on GNC’s return policies so future customers are treated fairly.
I have been a loyal GNC customer since 2005, returning for knowledgeable staff, great service, and GNC’s 30-day return policy. Recently, Store #01933 (Cross Roads, TX) failed on all three, and local shoppers deserve to know how policies are being handled here.
On Thursday, I bought Intake pre-workout powder from the clearance shelf for $11.97. Consultant Alayna explained it was marked down due to nearing expiration, assuring me it was fine to use. She never mentioned clearance items were non-refundable or final sale, nor was there any "No Returns" signage displayed anywhere in the store.
After trying it before my workout, the aftertaste was terribly unpleasant. Intending to exchange it for a $59.99 product I originally wanted, I returned to the store. Employee Charity stated she didn't know how to process exchanges and asked me to return the following day.
The next day, Alayna called Store Manager Timothy Bannecker. Mr. Bannecker outright refused the exchange solely because the item was bought off clearance, contradicting the written 30-day policy printed on the back of the receipt, posted company standards, and prior verbal assurances. Despite this unfair refusal, I still purchased the $59.99 pre-workout (Item #608648) and another item.
Having spent over ten years as a retail senior manager, I understand protecting assets, but long-term customer trust relies on consistent, fair policy enforcement. While Corporate Customer Service offered ~$15 in reward points, this issue is about proper staff training, transparency, and honoring published guarantees, not the money.
