Growing up I was a competitive gymnast turned volleyball player, and into college and a little after continued with city league volleyball. I then went through the indoor cycling and weight lifting stage (I still indoor cycle but am not lifting heavy anymore). While I had lived an active lifestyle and had quite a bit of strength, I never really felt like you could “see” my muscles. My stamina was high and I could lift a bunch of weight but it wasn’t really defined. Then, I attended my first Pure Barre class. I was thinking “this couldn’t be so bad maybe it’ll be a nice little cool down after the gym or I’ll pop it in for a rest day.” BOY WAS I WRONG. After the first class was sore for 3 days 🤣 I was like how in the world can a workout with minimal weights/mainly body weight movement leave me sore? Let me tell ya, IT’S AMAZING. Small intentional movements make a world of a difference! I love that the instructors help your form as well so you really feel the workouts you are doing. I started off with a 1x a week membership (4x a month) and found myself always looking for the free classes and popups because I was addicted. That membership only lasted about 3 months before I upgraded to 2x a week (8x a month) because I wanted to go more often. I’m debating an unlimited membership because I can really see myself attending at least 3x a week, if not more, but I need to adjust my budget to the increased cost first before I increase again haha 🤗 Not only are the classes difficult, they’re also fun! I have attended every class type and find I get something different out of each one. I think I enjoy Define most because you can go at your own pace with your own weights (they have up to 20 lb db) I love every instructor at the PBCS location and Colleen (the owner) is wonderful! One of the things I love the most is there’s so many class options throughout the week. Call me crazy but my favorite class is 7:30am on Saturday, such a fun way to start a weekend! In the short 6 months i’ve been attending I’m already seeing definition in my shoulder, core and thighs with glutes coming next, I can tell. 🫣 I can also do 10 full pushups, like nose to floor!!! (something I’ve never been able to do before) Overall I have loved my experience at Pure Barre CS and I recommend to anyone looking for a great group class and great fitness community, to give it a try!!

I’ve lived in College Station for 18 years, and I’m incredibly grateful that Pure Barre is part of our community. At 43, I’ve exercised nearly my entire life and have always valued staying active. But I never found something I truly loved that also helped me feel strong, confident, and feminine. Then a friend invited me to Pure Barre. I’ll never forget my first class. I had never been that sore! But I immediately knew I had found something different. Now, more than six months and nearly 100 classes later, Pure Barre has changed the way I feel. I’m stronger, more confident, and more comfortable in my own skin. I think of it as PURE: P | Physical Restoration: After five children and years of poor posture and movement habits, I feel like I’m rebuilding and restoring myself. My core is stronger, my posture is better, and I’m more flexible and aware of how I move. U | Understanding: I’ve learned to move with better alignment, control, and intention, and I understand movement in a whole new way. I also understand how my body works together to build lasting strength. R | Resilience: I’m building strength and stability that I hope will protect my joints and help prevent injuries as I age. E | Empowerment: I feel stronger, more toned, confident, and feminine. I love feeling capable, strong, and confident. And then there’s the community. The women at Pure Barre are welcoming, encouraging, and genuinely supportive. Women in their 60s and 70s are some of the strongest in class, reminding me that strength and fitness have no expiration date. Pure Barre has become so much more than a workout. It feels like an investment in my overall health and wellbeing as a woman and the woman I want to be. I’m so thankful my friend invited me to that first class, and even more thankful that Pure Barre is here in College Station.
