Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

WORST. PHARMACY. EVER! Go to HEB instead! There are so many reasons I will tell EVERYONE not to go to this pharmacy. 1) My doctor ordered an alternative of a drug I'm taking because the original was not covered by the insurance. The pharmacy tech said rudely, "We don't have that medicine. You'll have to go to a compounding pharmacy!" My doctor was very upset when he heard this. He said that he didn't believe Kroger Pharmacy. He now has to call in a prescription to a compounding pharmacy. Now that I'm with HEB Pharmacy, the pharmacy automatically does this for the doctor and then the compounding pharmacy calls you to go over price, dosage, etc. 2) I went in and I was frustrated that my insurance didn't pay for some medications. Julie Miller, the Assistant Pharmacy Manager said, "Well, you're insurance is better than mine! I'd love to have no co-pays on some of these medications." I told her, "There are several drugs that I've had to work with the doctor for weeks to get an approval and they're still not approved. Julie then continued to challenge me by saying, "I don't know about that. Epi-pens are pretty expensive!" Then I said, "I know I'm blessed, but I'm also broke." Then her pharmacy technician said, "You can't take it with you!!" I felt completely ambushed by Julie and her tech. I'm grieving the lost of 5 family members and I'm in Texas on my own struggling. They don't care, they'd rather be jealous that my insurance is better than theirs. Also, every time I went into the pharmacy, Julie Miller and that same tech with the headband and hair tied up give me dirty looks. Her tech once said to the pharmacy manager as I was leaving, "She told me that she didn't have any questions for you, then you came over and all of a sudden she has questions?!" 3) I called Kroger Pharmacy at 9:03 one day when they open at 9:00. The male technician told me, "I'm looking into this for you. But, it's 3 minutes after 9." 4) DANGER! If the Assistant Pharmacy Manager, Julie doesn't like you, she will not give you all of the information about a drug. I never took this particular drug before and I asked Julie about it. She just said, "Don't take it with any other pain medicine." Well, I never took that drug before and it had morphine and Narcan in it. When I called 911, the paramedics said it should have never been prescribed because I had no history of Opioid use. I could barely walk and my pulse went down to 66. My blood pressure was sky high. She also didn't tell me that there was a LONG half life to the drug which meant it took forever to get out of my system. Both the paramedics and ER Doc said it was "strange" that the doctor prescribed it. I understand that the doctor shouldn't have prescribed it, but a professional Assistant Pharmacy Manager should be an advocate for patients and give ALL information about drugs and potentially catch errors that the doctors might miss. DO NOT GO TO THIS PHARMACY!
