I wanted so badly for RDA to live up to their impressive reviews, but unfortunately I've been left incredibly disappointed and will be looking for another provider.
Let's start with a positive. I saw Dr. Culotta for my handful of appointments. Dr. Culotta is very knowledgeable and clearly passionate. She took the time to consult with me before one of my appointments, where she listened to my concerns and provided me with sound feedback and advice.
In my short time as a patient with RDA, I experienced two separate scheduling issues with the administrative staff. I will note that both instances were addressed and resolved in real time, though that does not make the experience much better at that point. Additionally, there seemed to be consistent communication issues and delays, and apparently some messages that just flat out aren't received. Logistically, RDA leaves one wanting. I'd like to note that when receiving communication regarding insurance and/or billing, the representative was very informative and knowledgeable in all of my interactions--though turnaround time often exceeded expectations.
The real issue, and the sole reason for my rating, relates to the business' standing on patient care. During my initial visit with RDA, I underwent a thorough evaluation that included x-rays, 3D imaging, and a hands-on evaluation. At no time was any hygienic work rendered, including the basic intro/annual cleaning most people would expect. Okay, no problem, we did spend a lot of time reviewing all of these evaluations. I had two fillings that needed to be done, so got those both completed and waited for the recovery time to pass. Then I attempted to schedule the basic cleaning I hadn't yet received, instead of the $1k recommended deep cleaning. I was informed that, "...all of your stats do reside within the periodontal category and that is not something we can bypass at this time". I responded that I hadn't even had my initial cleaning yet, so we should be able to get that knocked out without any issues. To which I received a lengthy response that included, "Knowing that we have evidence that supports the need for Periodontal care, we legally can not ignore that, that could easily jeopardize the license of our hygiene and doctors.". To which I replied, "Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly - if I am unable to pay $1k for a cleaning for the next 3 years, RDA's stance would be that I would receive no hygienic services during that period. Is that right?". I did not receive an answer to my question, but instead was told that my hygienist would like to schedule a call with me tomorrow morning. I confirmed the time, and the representative stated she added it to their schedule. The next morning, I did not receive a call at the scheduled time. I did receive a call 14 minutes later, and a voicemail that not once apologized for calling late or acknowledging any wrong doing whatsoever. Simply, "This is _____ with RDA. Just calling to chat about your treatment plan and everything. Just call back uh when you have a minute. Thanks. Bye.". Honestly just incredibly insulting and disappointing; a clear picture of the value of a patient to RDA.
