Club Pilates East Austin on 5th Street has a distinct vibe from other Austin locations. It is energetic, vibrant, and easily the most diverse studio I’ve attended welcoming people of all body types, ages, genders, and experience levels. If you thrive in an open, inclusive environment, you’ll love the spirit here.
That said, there are several location-specific details and logistics to keep in mind before booking a class:
STUDIO: The studio is clean, equipment is well-maintained, and there is a convenient complimentary water station. There is a black curtain the instructor closes so that sun doesn't get in your eyes while lying on your reformer if you are near the entrance.
LAYOUT: However, the architectural layout presents a few quirks due to structural columns.
Front Column Area: Obstructs the line of sight between the instructor and student. This means less visual feedback and fewer hands-on corrections, though it might appeal to more experienced or privacy-minded members.
Back Corner Reformer: Positioned such that the reformer is separated from the mat area -- mat on one side of the room and reformer the other side. The reformer is also by a large column. It’s workable, but something to be aware of when selecting your station.
Staff, Instructors & Policies
CHECK-IN: Unlike some locations with self-service kiosks, a staff member checks you in manually at the front desk upon arrival. Do not look for a kiosk as you won't find it.
INSTRUCTORS: The studio recently lost an invaluable instructor (Jess, who left for family reasons), which was an incredible loss without question. There are many other instructors from which to choose each bringing a unique style with their own strengths. Many of the current instructors are newer, energetic and very enthusiastic. No instructor seems to be suffering any burnout! There are class levels ranging from beginner-friendly up to 2.0.
POLICIES: Be aware that cancellation/attendance, late-entry, no cell phone use in class, and grip-sock policies are STRICTLY enforced here. Make sure you review the fine print.
PARKING: Free 2-hour parking is available in the nearby garage with a validation ticket from the studio after class. The garage itself feels safe and well-lit and there has always been an available space morning, afternoon, evening and weekends.
NEIGHBORHOOD ENVIRONMENT: Being in East Austin, the immediate surroundings reflect standard urban dynamics. While going directly between the garage and the studio is straightforward, walking near neighboring retail stores (like Target or Whole Foods) often means passing unhoused individuals, some of whom can be very aggressive or loud. Something simply to be aware of. If being approached or yelled at by unhoused persons is an uncomfortable experience, a workaround could simply be crossing the street or joining a group of people already walking. The studio cannot control situations outside the studio and experiences like this are merely a reflection of inner city dynamics. I didn't let this deter me from attending.
TRAFFIC: Traffic getting into this area can be excessively heavy depending on the time of day, so buffer time is ESSENTIAL unless you live within walking distance. You must plan your time very well due to accidents, traffic congestion, inclement weather conditions, etc. The studio is very strict on its policies so be sure to be on-time and plan, plan, plan. Part of going to this studio can be about learning and practicing time-management.
FINAL VERDICT: While it’s no longer the absolute best personal fit for my specific routine, it is a fantastic, welcoming space for new and experienced students, body-conscious individuals, neighborhood locals, high-energy folks, or anyone seeking a positive, community-driven Pilates environment. Worth a visit! Just plan your travel time and pick your reformer station carefully.

My favorite pilates studio in Austin and surrounding cities too! I’ve tried them all and time again I always return here. The instructors are so knowledgeable and they are amazing at correcting your posture and movements so you maximize what pilates can do for you. I started my reformer classes here and right from the beginning (several years ago) I felt very comfortable using the equipment because the instructors explain how to use them without making you feel silly or awkward. The variety of movements and modalities that you get with these classes are so beneficial to your body! Learning new moves is also so fun! I feel so much stronger since I started and it helps me stay balanced and confident. Seeing the progression of what I’m able to do has been a point of pride to me and I’m so thankful for this place. Parking is easy and free for two hours at any of the Saltillo garages right behind the studio and the next block over (under wholefoods & target), so your car doesn’t roast in the sun! They always have cute raffles, little freebies and local art as well and you get to know the other members, which is lovely. Beth, the manager, is one of my favorite people and all the staff are so very lovely! There are a lot of pilates studios in town, super modern ones, expensive ones, ones with weird parking or limited class availability. When you find one that is the perfect fit and feels like home, that’s the one for you!
