I have used SERA and Dr. Shular for over a decade. I have always been treated with respect by him. A few Saturdays ago my retina showed signs of finally detaching. Dr. Shular has cared for me for over a decade and had explained the procedure should this happen. Call. Be seen. Learn which side to lie on and be scheduled for surgery during the week. I called. Dr. Anderson was on call and I thought him rude. I certainly didn’t want to be blind so I endured. At the Shular follow up he came into the exam room and said, “You’re not out of the woods yet!” He never once looked at me when he spoke. He looked at his nurse and told me that there was no need to call on Saturday because it was no emergency. He repeated this. Reprimanded! When I mentioned a shadow he immediately shut me down and said I didn’t have one. Again speaking in the direction of the nurse. Even when he told me to return in 9 weeks he did not look at me. Never have I been treated with such disregard and disrespect.

The front office receptionist are the most incompetent I have ever had to deal with and I have dealt with a lot. They never have the paperwork even when you hand it right to them. They code most of their billing incorrectly causing your insurance not to pay or cover the cost. Even when you get to your appointment early they forget about you and take zero responsibility for their mess ups. It is extremely frustrating to be at the mercy of these people. 2.5 hours wait time to be told I needed to make a payment. That could have been handled when I first came in 30 mins before my appointment time. They cost me more in lost hours at work than the fee for their injections. Perhaps I should bill the front office for my missed work hours.

Waited an hour to be seen, scheduled appointment. Even came in as directed 1/2 hr early for paperwork. I did my part, spent 1 & 1/2 hours watching 15 patients go in. 9 came in after me and I was never called. This after I even inquired as to the wait of 50 minutes. I left after an hour; They called as I was on my way home saying they had emergency. What about all the 9 who came in after?
I recommend you go elsewhere. 1/2 star.

Great explanation of Macular Pucker, and what to expect from surgery. Surgery went well, office was pleasant and well organized.
