They don't deserve any stars. They need to have a lawsuit brought against them.. They are not helpful when your equipment breaks, you have to go find your own help, and they drag their feet for months with the paperwork. They don't keep you updated or informed. You need to make it your day job to make sure they're doing what they should be to keep your order moving. They do not call you back when you leave messages.
I was trying to get a hold of the guy over my order for over a month only to call the main line and find out that he was no longer working there!! I called in for a repair and parts replacement in August and I've gotten the run around since then... I call and wait on hold only to hear "I don't know", "That's not something I can see/do", "I'll transfer you"...
Awful Company

Absolutely terrible customer service at the Indy NW location. TJ lies to your face and makes promises he doesn't intend to keep. Alicia is the manager who runs from issues rather than fixing problems. They are incompetent. My daughter has waited almost a year for her chair because they NEVER SENT THE PAPERWORK! That's their literal job. I was repeatedly told it was insurance holding things up. Lies.

I have a quadriplegic daughter that uses a ceiling lift that happened to have a battery die. Called the supplier, they only sell to the dealer. The batteries are on the shelf at Handicare, I had Handicare verify inventory. I am paying cash for these batteries, so no insurance involvement. So a week goes by, not ordered, but then i was told they would order. Called a couple more times, NSM response is that they are getting a quote for them. Why? I already have been told by NSM what they cost if they install, so it should be cheaper if I install. $275 for 20 (AA) batteries strung together. Then on Thursday, I hurt my back and had to go to the chiropractor Friday and Monday, because of no lift. I nearly had to call 911 to get my daughter out of bed and into her wheelchair. Screaming at NSM to order these, they say they are busy, backed up, and should get them ordered first thing Monday 12/12/22. They did deliver a manual lift for us to use that takes 45 minutes to use with 2 people because the house is set up for the ceiling lift. Just no room. But now here it is Wednesday night, 12/14, I checked on the NSM tracking site, the batteries are not ordered yet. How hard can it be? they order, I pay, they make 100% profit, not insurance to quibble with, I repair the lift myself. NSM is not a very well-run company if it takes 3 different people in the service group to NOT ORDER MY BATTERIES!!!!
I tried sending an email to your email address, it doesn't work. Please check out your email.

I received through Vanderbilte Hospital 2 years ago a power wheelchair. I can’t say enough about the Vanderbilte wheelchair clinic, their great people. I was diagnosed and measured and matched with a wonderful wheelchair in less then 2 months.
Within 1 year though the wheelchair started having problems. One thing after another went wrong with it.
Then 8 months ago one of the two motors started locking up while in motion. Then the drive system started slipping out of gear and that left me with no way to use my wheelchair. So it’s been over 8 months that I can’t use my wheelchair.
The company that was paid over $8,000 to provide me the chair hasn’t found the time to repair it. National seating and mobility was paid up front to provide the repairs but still haven’t done so.
National Seating and Mobility has drug out the process for 8 months! First they told me they had to receive approval from my insurance. Then they told me after 6 weeks that they need to order the parts to repair my chair. The first time a repairman came he brought the wrong batteries. Then I was told they had to be ordered again. When ALL the parts finally came in to their shop it’s been over 8 months. So National Seating and Mobility ( I’ll call them NSM ) then sent me a notice that they needed to get a new approval from my insurance co. After another few weeks I’m called and told that they finally have all the parts but was waiting for my insurance to pay them and that I had to pay my deductible and co-payment first. My insurance paid and I paid but did they come and make the needed repairs, NO , they waited a couple of weeks first. I had to call them asking why the delays and was told the they were waiting to make an appointment with the service department. NSM finally sent me an email that they were planning to come to my home and get the repairs done.
It’s now July 14th. the date they set to appear and do the repairs. The service technician called 5 minutes from my house to tell me that he just got a call and was told that the approval for the repairs has run out and they couldn’t make the repairs today! The office of NSM told me that it took to long to make the repairs so yes, the approval has expired! They have taken so long that the date that the repairs were approved for expired. I found out by calling my insurance company told me that they had until July 11th to make the repairs because they had been approved to do so over 2 months ago! So now I have to wait till they get reapproved before they can come out again.
I don’t see how NSM can stay in business! I did read a few reviews concerning things like this but I didn’t listen and thought that since they arranged this powerchair throw Vanderbilte that I wouldn’t receive such poor treatment. Boy was I wrong!
I wouldn’t recommend NSM to anyone, not even to someone I didn’t like. No one deserves to be treated like this!
If NSM ever repairs my chair I come back and add to this review and tell everyone what has happened. IF they ever do what my insurance and I have paid for weeks ago I’ll let you know. Till then I wouldn’t trust them, or recommend them to anyone!

Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
