I want to start by saying that the owner is a kind woman, and the studio itself is a clean, welcoming environment. This makes leaving a negative review even more disappointing.
Earlier this week, some of you may have seen it on the news—my cousin, Jaxson Alexander, went missing. It was a massive search effort that involved police from three different states, narcotics teams, drones, helicopters—you name it. Why is this relevant? Because while I did forget to cancel my Pure Barre appointments, it’s because I was literally out searching through woods, railroad tracks, and abandoned buildings looking for my missing cousin.
I understand and respect the studio’s cancellation policy. Normally, I stay on top of things like that. But this week, it was the furthest thing from my mind.
What really hurts, though, is that the owner and I were friends on Facebook. She saw what was going on. She knew. It was all over my page, on the news, on Missing Persons of America. And yet, while we were living through a nightmare, I was receiving an overwhelming amount of bank notifications about Pure Barre trying to repeatedly charge my card. It felt like harassment.
That’s what left the worst taste in my mouth—not just the missed appointment, but the lack of grace or compassion. When you can see someone’s personal crisis unfolding in real time, and your only response is to try to collect a $20 fee over and over again, that says a lot.

Thank you Mrs. Amber for the beautiful experience..

I found the atmosphere of this pure barre not warm or welcoming to new beginners. There was not a sense of community, encouraging atmosphere, or much help for those still learning. In the beginning, I was excited and nervous to try something new but left most classes feeling discouraged and somewhat of an outcast to this fitness group. I also had increased back strain for days after each class. 2 instructors were somewhat helpful with modifications and 2 instructors did not help with modifications, didn’t bother to ask my name or provide encouragement or feedback. The front desk was nice the first 2 times then didn’t welcome me when I came in or speak when leaving. This fitness group felt cliquish and lacked enthusiasm and excitement. I found the classes challenging but also boring.
I’m providing my experience and feed back in hopes that changes might occur for other new members in the future.
