  Dr Cook is the very best! He saw me on an emergency level because I was having problems with one of my eyes. Dr Cook was very thorough with my eye exam and reassured me the tests found nothing wrong. Dr Cook was so compassionate and professional. The staff at Mountain Empire Eye is always friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend them!

  The most thorough exam I've ever had of my eyes. The entire staff, from check-in to checkout was friendly and helpful with explaining what they would be doing before they began. Dr. Bunning gave me peace of mind after all the exams were finished and reassured me. Would, and will, recommend these folks to anyone looking for a great place for their eye care needs.

  This is not a cliche 5-star review… Across the board, the staff is friendly, caring, knowledgeable, and professional… bar none, in my experience. Dr. Bunning is efficient and sparse (and fast) in communication, but don’t let that fool you. The care is definitely there. If you ask a question, he will answer it, if you need clarification, he will provide it. If you walk away confused, it’s because you didn’t ask. His skills are superb! Again, I can’t speak highly enough of this crew. Everyone has a task, and they all do their part very well! This is the place to be!

  I came in without an appointment. Told him what I was there for. She said we've could get you in today if you want to hang around a few minutes. And it didn't take long for somebody to come out and see me and they looked at everything said everything was okay. I had I was seeing dots black dots floaters I guess is what I call them. But they told me that everything looks okay and if I have any problems come back in. But they looked at me that day and told me there was nothing they could see some stuff and they thought it could maybe be diabetes. And I am a diabetic so maybe that's what it was but they did show me on the X-ray

  Called in December 2025 for an eye exam, Amanda asked for insurance, I advised Amanda I did not have vision insurance, I would pay cash. She advised the total would be $170-$215. In February at my appointment, I was again asked for insurance, I told them I do not have insurance I was paying my balance in full which I did $130. Months later I discover they billed my medical insurance $305 which was denied, then I was turned me over to a collection agency. Called and spoke with the office manager Jennifer who refused to acknowledge her staff made a mistake but told me she would “look into it”. Never heard from Jennifer so I just paid the collector $144 to keep my credit score from suffering. So that visit cost me $274, much higher than Amanda’s quote. Plus, both times I have been to this office they are always running behind, 30-45 minutes past your appointment you get called back to wait another 20-30 minutes and both times Dr Josh Hicks stood outside the door talking to the associates about trivial shit (restaurants and vacations) for several minutes before entering the room. The most terrible service ever. Would never return here.
