I would call Nuance a "science project" and a prototype that was rushed to market. As a "first mover," and having owned them for over a year - consider this feedback before you invest in the “vision” of the Nuance Audio app. I do respect the LensCrafters team and as an early adopter of the Nuance Audio hearing glasses, I wanted to provide a candid 12-month "field report" on the technology. While I remain a loyal customer of this shop for my business and a believer in the future of "hearables," I have reached the point where I must warn others to avoid this specific product. In short, it currently feels like a “science project” rather than a polished consumer solution and is one of the most expensive glasses set in the store. Key Failure Points: The "Wall of Sound" -the adaptive beamforming is unable to consistently handle real-world changes. In restaurants or busy environments, it can fail to isolate speech and instead creates a "wall" of amplified background noise, leading to extreme listening fatigue. Sometimes it works and other times it fails to adjust- fiddling over and over again with the app is not what you expect and reality is you want to be with the people- not the Nuance app. It needs to be predictable. Volatile Memory - as it ages the device requires constant tinkering to get the settings right, only to "lose" those settings shortly after. A reliable assistive device shouldn't require this much manual babysitting and should last longer than 366 days. Battery Lifecycle: after just one year, the battery capacity has degraded to the point of failure. For a prescription frame, having the tech die mid-day renders the added weight and cost of the hardware pointless - I am back to wearing my old frames. What a disappointment. Current Status: I have pivoted to using AirPods Pro for now. Despite the shorter per-charge life, the computational audio and "Conversation Boost" handle the "wall of sound" far better than the Nuance hardware. I’ll continue to look to you for the next generation of innovation and your service and selection are the absolute best - but the Nuance glasses aren't ready for professional, real-world use. Best regards, Steve Methvin VP, Technology & Product Development

Great experience at both the eye doctors office and ordering new glasses in the store. Staff is very supportive in both areas and will certainly return.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
