My 81-year-old father is a Vietnam veteran with 100% VA disability. After several falls, the VA's occupational therapy team arranged for a vertical lift to be installed at his home, and 101 Mobility was the company assigned to the job. I cannot recommend them and would actively steer any veteran or elderly family away from this company. Janice came out to assess the property and told us the VA would cover a larger deck that was required, the electrical work, and the lift itself. We cleared out the garage as instructed, and that's when the real problems started. After the assessment, Janice never answered another phone call and never returned a single voicemail, even after I called repeatedly over several weeks asking for a status update. I finally called their office directly and was told the paperwork had been submitted to the VA and they were "still waiting to hear back." That was false — when I called the VA myself, I learned they had approved the request and sent it back to 101 Mobility the very next day, weeks earlier. Only after I confronted the office with that did the "missing" paperwork suddenly reappear. The install itself was worse. The deck and stairs were built so poorly that the handrails on both sides wobbled violently, weren't level, and had mismatched pickets and no top caps — a genuine fall hazard for two elderly parents who lean on those rails for support. Before we'd even experienced a single problem, the owner told my parents and my brother that the issue they "normally see" is the lift refusing to go down, and that the fix is to walk down the stairs and bang on the underside of the lift to reset the sensor — and if that doesn't work, "don't call us, call the VA." Think about that: the entire point of installing a lift is to eliminate a fall hazard on stairs for someone who can't safely use them, and their own stated solution was for my parents to use those same stairs to go bang on the equipment. It's an absurd, unacceptable answer from a mobility company — and it gets worse: the handrails on the very stairs they were telling my parents to use were the same ones this crew had just installed loose and wobbling. If my parents had followed that advice and put their full weight on those rails going down to reset the sensor, the rail could have snapped and they could have been seriously hurt. Their own recommended workaround relied on the one thing in the whole job that was genuinely unsafe. Sure enough, exactly as he described, the lift failed to go down within an hour of installation, and it failed roughly ten more times over the following five days. I escalated to the VA's chief prosthetics office, who sent an independent contractor to inspect the work. That company confirmed everything: unsafe, substandard carpentry and a lift that wasn't level and had its return button installed out of reach for anyone in a wheelchair. They fixed the lift's sensor issue in about fifteen minutes — it has worked flawlessly ever since — and the VA had them completely rebuild the deck and stairs from scratch. If my brother and I hadn't caught this ourselves, my elderly parents would have been left with an unsafe structure and a lift that didn't reliably work. This company is taking on jobs for disabled veterans and doing unsafe work they clearly don't know how to do correctly, while collecting VA payment, then telling families to call the government instead of standing behind their own installation. On top of that, because of their mistakes, the VA had to send a completely separate company out on two additional trips — one to inspect the botched work and another to actually fix it — which means our tax dollars were wasted correcting a job 101 Mobility was already paid to do right the first time. I'm attaching video showing the shoddy workmanship on the deck and stairs. One star, and I would not trust them near my family again.

I have had mixed results with 101 Mobility in Greenville. A year ago, I contacted them because our automatic door opener stopped working. I explained that my daughter was in high school and took the bus home and couldn't get into the house without the door opener and we were at work. The best they could offer was 3 weeks out. I asked if they could make it any earlier and they said they'd let me know if they had a cancellation. Tried to contact the manager but he never returned my messages. Finally random called a commercial garage door opener company and they said it wasn't what they did but would be glad to send a tech out the next day to see if they could help us out. The tech came out, called the manufacturer and got it working. Fast forward to April of this year and I had more problems with the opener. Again called 101 Mobility and got a quicker appointment. The tech was great and found the issue immediately although the minimum service fee to come out and just look at it is quite pricey for the 15 minute fix and no parts. But, I give the technician 4 stars for his friendliness. Fast forward again to July of this year and it's out again. Contacted 101 Mobility for a quote. Sent an online request. Followed up with a phone call. Never got a quote. Never got a call back. Meanwhile, my daughter is stuck in the house unable to get out while we're at work. Finally did a Google search and found another vendor in the Greenville area who deals with these openers and he came out (no cost), checked it out, emailed me a quote that evening, ordered a new opener, kept in contact with updates on expected delivery, contacted the manufacturer, and came the next day after receiving the opener and installed it. Meanwhile, 3 weeks in and I still haven't received a quote from 101. I gave them two stars because I believe if you can get a tech out you will be satisfied with the work. Just not sure where the breakdown is.

The company doesn't seem to care too much about little issues with your lift. We have been missing a leg from our platform for the lift for 2 months and they don't seem to care about getting out here to get it done(still don't have it by the way). Then they demand you pay them after the job is "done" and it's not. With how much these lifts cost, everything should be 100% done before demanding payment. The lift itself is fine and does what we need, but I just didn't feel like we were a priority to them.
