Everyone in the office was nice and personable. I thought my eyesight was complicated but Doc Wilson was very knowledgeable, professional and patient. I don't really care for uppity name brands and their other options were just what I wanted. This is now my optical place. Thanks Ladies.

This place will unnecessarily try to charge you for things that your insurance doesn’t cover so that they can make more money. I've been wearing contact lenses for years. At this practice, I was told I needed a new contact lens fitting exam every year in order to get the contact lens prescription. That fitting isn't covered by my vision insurance, so it comes straight out of pocket. I went to a different optometrist who took one look at my history and said a fitting wasn't necessary since I've been wearing the same lenses without any problems for years. I got the updated prescription without having to pay extra for an unneeded fitting exam. That made more sense.. Your annual exam shouldn't feel like you're constantly having to push back on charges or scared the clinic is trying to nickel and dime you for every small thing. You should clarify exactly what they will do and charge for before agreeing to go to any optometry clinic.

Exam was efficient but went over everything in detail. The ladies helping me find my frames were amazing! We deep dived into all the colors and size options, what worked best with my face, what was within my budget. 15/10 stars I will always come back here!

This is NOT a place I recommend. To be clear, this is the Wilson Family Vision inside of Target on Two Notch Road in Columbia, SC. My overall experience has been poor, although I will that I liked Dr. Wilson who was professional, personable and pleasant. However the overall feel of the office is "indifference". From my first visit, I was disappointed with how long I had to wait. It was almost an hour from my appointment time to when I was seen. I didn't see the staff providing details to anyone coming in about how long their wait would be. They were behind - it happens. But no apologies for waiting, no updates, no energy or empathy at all from the staff. I was seen by Dr. Wilson and I was happy with her care. She recommended trying some multifocal contact lenses - not something I wanted, but she said it would be good to at least try them and it wouldn't cost anything. She ordered a free trial, which took a few weeks to arrive. Once they arrived, I then needed to schedule another appointment which was another week away. So I went in and had them fitted. Bottom line, I didn't like the way the multifocal lenses worked, so the Dr. said she would order another trial. I could see fine far way, but I didn't like how they affected my close vision. It took over month until I was alerted that the new trials were in (this is more than 60 days after my initial visit). I was out of town and busy, and didn't have a chance to go back. I figured that my eyes were measured and it would be easy to just get regular contacts later. I forgot about it until last week because I was running out of contacts. I called to see if I could get my Rx over the phone so I could order some contacts. The person I spoke to said I could only do that in person. I explained that I was out of town, but he said I would have to come in person to get the Rx. I went in today. I was given an Rx for Eyeglasses and Contacts. I asked for my PD measurement for eyeglasses and they could not provide. They stated it was not in the system. Of course, not having that number makes is more difficult to order online. Secondly, the contact lens Rx was for multifocal lenses. I asked if could simply get a Rx that was just regular vision, not multifocal since my vision was perfect far away - the same strength and lenses that fit me, but without close magnification. After a little back and forth, I was told the only way to get a regular contact lens Rx is to have another fitting done, at a charge of $60 because it's been more than 60 days since my original visit. I already paid $185.27 for my initial visit, which I now have an eyeglass Rx without a PD measurement and a contact lens Rx that didn't work for me. So, I'm just going to start over, chop this up to a bad experience, and move on. But I'm also going to leave this review in an effort help others in their decision to find an optical specialist.

Target Optical always has a great selection of Ray Ban frames, and a good selection of Oakley frames. They offer good prices, frequent promotions & discounts, a military/veteran discount, and they accept most insurance plans. Their customer service associates are usually friendly and courteous too. I received 5-Star service from Brittney today at their Two Notch Rd. location in Columbia, SC. She was knowledgeable, professional, and thorough in making sure that my new glasses will be just what I need. Additionally, she made sure that I got all possible discounts available. Thank you, Brittney!
