Always a great experience at this location. Professional and thoughtful. The exam was good, well explained. Joshua who helped me pick out frames was very helpful and honest. I feel confident in my choice.

Dr. Cote was fast and thorough ❤️ She immediately went and personally called Clemson Eye for a consult for cataract surgery. By fast she didn’t mess around with clicking back and forth wasting time as other optometrists have done.

So, I am not the type to write scathing reviews, but my experience this week was "that" bad in my opinion. I think people need to know what they could experience (as based on what I personally experienced). So, I'll start with the good... the eye doctor's attached to this store were great! They made my appointment super easy, relaxed and stress free. The fact that lenscrafters was attached, was - a huge plus in my books. Convenient! The staff on the lenscrafters side were friendly - and helpful in the beginning, but, that is all the good I can report. Now for what happened that resulted in this review. I was disappointed with the selection of frames at Lenscrafters. I felt there were only minimal amounts of choice and in the end I got it narrowed down to maybe two choices that were just "ok." I did appreciate the advice of the saleswoman who suggested frames that cover my crowsfeet (I'm middle aged, so that advice was appreciated). I didn't "love" any of the frames available and I tried on a bunch. I went through every display rack at least once. The two I had it narrowed down to - were just ok. I picked out the best of the "ok" - and asked if I could sleep on it for a night to see if I still felt that was the best frames for me. I wanted to LOVE them, I didn't - and I was resigned to figuring that I'd have to settle (don't settle, btw). I asked the saleslady if she could send me an estimate (she did), and if I could call the next day IF I decided to proceed. She agreed. At no point was I told that they were putting a "hold" on my insurance and that my insurance company would register an order as accepted. I thought IF I decided to go ahead I would call in with my credit card and at that point they would submit it to my insurance company (they had on file). Anyway, after I left - and still not feeling like two "ok" choices were acceptable I stopped at Americas Best to see what their selection was like. They had close to double the selection and I was able to find a dozen pairs that were equally if not better than the two "ok" ones at Lenscrafters. The helpful young lady behind the counter was able to find my husbands insurance and informed me I was not eligible for eyeglasses and that the next pair I could get would be in May 2028. This I knew was wrong because I had never gotten any pairs of glasses under this plan and this was the first time I had attempted to use my benefits. America's Best informed me that Lenscrafters must have put a "hold" on my insurance (which made it look like I had bought a pair there). I called over to Lenscrafters and talked to a very friendly/kind lady who at first thought there wasn't a hold, but then found out there was and took the hold off. I had to wait for the hold to come off my account at America's best before they could price any glasses out for me. Admittedly, I found the "hold" without being told to be sketchy. I was NOT informed that they would be putting a hold on my account therefore locking me into a pair of glasses that I barely liked let alone loved. This experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I feel that if a hold was being put on my account then I should have been informed (I was not). To put a hold on a person's account when no eyeglasses were purchased puts the patient/client in a bad situation. Thankfully we were able to figure out what the issue was and get it rectified. So, in summary - less selection and a sketchy hold put on my insurance benefits (without being told). I hadn't thought I would even find pairs elsewhere that I loved, but I have to live with whatever glasses are bought for at least 2 years - I want to love how they look, not just settle for ok.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
