Experience pediatric dental care that’s full of wonder and joy! Our general pediatric dentistry services focus on preventive care, routine cleanings, exams, and dental education in a fun, fear-free environment. We empower children and families to build strong, healthy smiles for life—with a team that makes every visit memorable and exciting. From the moment you arrive, we strive to ensure your child feels comfortable, confident, and excited about their dental health.

We provide gentle oral conscious sedation to make dental visits comfortable and anxiety-free for children who may be nervous or require extra support. Our caring team ensures a safe, calm, and positive experience, helping young patients get the dental care they need with confidence—so healthy smiles can keep growing without fear.

A frenectomy is a gentle procedure to release tight or restrictive tissue beneath the tongue or upper lip, helping to improve speech, feeding, and overall oral development. Our expert team performs frenectomies in a kid-friendly, compassionate environment, using advanced technology to ensure a quick, comfortable recovery—so your child’s smile can thrive.

Extractions and Space Maintainers

Deep decay, infections, or simply age are all reasons we would recommend removing a tooth. Should we remove the tooth, or should it fall out on its own, we may suggest space maintainers. Space maintainers help teeth stay in place while the new teeth come in. That means they help control crowding and other problems which may help prevent braces.

Sealants

A sealant is a protective coating that helps prevent cavities on the top surfaces of the teeth. Sealants are preventative, and aren’t meant to last forever. They’re meant to help get your child through their “candy years” until they learn to care for and better appreciate their teeth. For peace-of-mind, know this; the sealants we use at Sprout are BPA-free.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

There’s plenty of good ways to reduce the risks of decay, brushing, flossing, healthy eating habits. Now there’s another option, Silver Diamine Fluoride, or SDF. Silver Diamine Fluoride is an anti-microbial liquid that we use to treat decay and cavities in a fast, non-invasive manner. It’s a low-stress, pain-free option. Although some kids may still scream because of their expectations, there’s nothing to be concerned about. SDF is simply brushed on the teeth to stop current decay while helping to reduce risks of decay in the future.

Pulpotomies & Stainless Steel Crowns

Sometimes, a white filling won’t suffice due to the extent of the damage or the degree of decay on your child’s tooth. Our pediatric dentists evaluate each child individually based on the nature and severity of decay, and how much longer we can expect the tooth to stay in the child’s mouth. In cases like these, our doctors may recommend a stainless steel crown. The stainless steel crown will function as a strong supportive covering that sits on top of the remaining tooth structure. Once placed, your child will be able to chew normally and the tooth itself will loosen and fall out like a regular baby tooth.

White Fillings

At Sprout Dental, we only use white fillings. We feel white fillings are best because we can place them without removing as much healthy tooth material. Plus, we can seal them, too. The other reason we prefer white fillings as opposed to silver ones is composition. Silver or “amalgam” fillings contain mercury. Although there is a lot of supportive literature out there that states amalgam is a safe restorative material, we’d just prefer not to chance it.

Nitrous Oxide

Most of our children are treated with Nitrous Oxide (aka “laughing gas”) during their restorative appointments. We’ve found that this method works best to increase cooperation, help with pain management, decrease anxiety, and create a more pleasant experience overall. Nitrous Oxide is a sweet smelling gas administered through a “flavored” nasal hood. It is always given along with oxygen to keep your child safe. Nitrous does not put your child to sleep and it is quickly metabolized in the body. That means that your child recovers immediately.

General Anesthesia

General Anesthesia is often used in cases where a child is medically compromised, very young in age, or isn’t a candidate for in-office conscious sedation. To ensure the proper treatment of these children, Dr. Kady maintains privileges at Scranton Regional Hospital. This hospital setting allows us to “put your child to sleep” just like other surgeries through nasal intubation. If your child needs general anesthesia, we will arrange the visit from our office and treat your child in Scranton.

Breastfeeding & Lactation Support

Breastfeeding heartaches can frequently be caused by a condition called ankyloglossia. It’s a mouthful of a word, but it’s actually the scientific name for tongue ties, and it’s the reason many moms and babies struggle with breastfeeding. Tongue- and lip-ties weaken the connection, so we seek to strengthen it. Working with Wayne Memorial Health Services’ Lactation Consultants and your pediatrician, we offer a range of breastfeeding supports and services. One of the best, is on-site assistance with Frenectomies here at our office. Lactation services at Sprout Dental go beyond assisting with frenectomies and recovery, offering a range of supports to help mothers and children on their journey.
