Gynecologic Treatments
Gynecological care is vital for women of all ages to maintain their health and wellbeing. Whether you’re 21, 80, or anywhere in between, your body and reproductive health needs the attention of an experienced gynecologist.
Menopause & HRT
Menopause begins when your ovaries' production of estrogen declines, at first causing your menstrual periods to possibly become irregular and eventually to stop altogether. You are in natural menopause when you haven't had a period for 12 consecutive months. You are in surgical menopause when your ovaries have been removed, usually as part of a total hysterectomy (removal of the uterus).
Frequently Asked Questions About Advanced Women's Care of Pittsburgh, P.C.
What is minimally-invasive surgery? Why is it better?
Minimally invasive surgery is a type of procedure that uses smaller incisions and specialized instruments to reduce recovery time and post-operative pain. Compared to traditional open surgery, minimally invasive surgery can result in less scarring and faster healing. Additionally, the smaller incisions used with minimally invasive surgery help reduce the risk of infection.
Do I need to see a women’s health specialist? What are the reasons to see a gynecologist?
It’s important to make an appointment with your gynecologist if you experience any concerning symptoms such as pain in the lower abdomen, abnormal vaginal bleeding, or other unusual discharge. It’s best to be proactive and get checked out by a doctor if you are unsure about whether or not your symptoms are cause for concern.
