The place looks great when you walk in—nice setup, good ambiance—but don’t let that fool you. It’s basically high-end glasses with low-budget staff. I honestly don’t understand how this place has a 4.7 rating based on my experience. The doctor was great, no complaints there—he gets five stars. But the staff? Rude, unprofessional, disorganized, and clearly have no idea what they’re doing. One girl in particular had a serious attitude problem—very controlling, acting like she runs the place, and completely unprofessional in how she carried herself. Especially noticeable when everyone else at least looked somewhat put together in what’s supposed to be a professional office. To be fair, I needed a same-day appointment and they got me in quickly, which I do appreciate. But then I find out they don’t even take Capital Blue Cross… which is basically the biggest insurance around here. That meant paying out-of-pocket. That’s on me for not checking ahead, but still—how does an office in Central PA not accept that? The biggest issue was the complete mess around my visit. I told them at check-in I was there for a DMV eye exam to renew my license. Pretty simple, right? Somehow that turned into a circus. First I’m told I need a form. Then they’re not sure. Then I probably don’t. Then “come back if you need it.” Why would I come back when I’m already there?? Then they tell me I have to wait for the doctor to finish with two more patients just to fill something out. When I pushed back, that same girl told me I needed to be “patient.” My response was—I already waited my turn. This should have been handled while I was with the doctor. Then she tried to say I should have brought the form with me. Okay… then why didn’t you tell me that at check-in when I specifically said why I was there? How would I magically know that? And on top of that, they won’t email anything and be there no patient portal to get my information, so everything becomes more inconvenient for no reason. The whole place just feels backwards. They have no problem wasting your time or making you jump through hoops. At the end of the day, it’s a place selling high-end products with low-budget staff running the show. Looks nice on the outside, but completely falls apart where it actually matters. I won’t be back, and I’ll definitely be going to a real optometrist office next time versus the five and dime of eye doctor offices.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
