This review has nothing to do with the staff or the Optometrist. They were all good.. Very accommodating, helpful and professional. If it were for the people at this location alone, it would be a higher star review. This is a review based on a Pearle Vision policy.
Purchased glasses, and they wound up being way too tight, painful on the ears. Thankfully, Pearle Vision does have a 30 day return/exchange policy.
The frames i originally purchased were $258. The replacement ones I got were $148. They do NOT refund the difference. Had the new pair been more expensive than the originals, of course one would be charged for the upgrade. But, if the price is lower, no refund is allowed. Absolutely absurd and ridiculous.
Glass frames are famously one of the most marked up products in the world. It is staggering how little it costs to actually make and manufacture them. Almost all glasses companies are owned by one huge conglomerate. They have a monopoly on the market, and their profits are through the roof.
***EssilorLuxottica, a French-Italian company formed by the 2017 merger of Essilor and Luxottica, dominates the global eyewear industry. They own, produce, or distribute a massive percentage of major brands, including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Persol, Oliver Peoples, and luxury licenses like Chanel, Prada, and Versace, often commanding over 80% of major brands.***
That said, who can take the $110 financial hit more, your average consumer, or a conglomerate.
I have always liked Pearle, and still like their staff and such, but this left a really, really poor taste in my mouth. Have gotten MANY pairs of glasses over the years with Pearle, and they can't do a simple refund. It would have been the right and proper thing to do. Then again, customer relations is a dying art.
Also, BOTH pair of glasses, they did not call me when the came in, i called them. How hard is it to call the customer and say, you're glasses came in.
And, when picking up the new glasses, was asked if I returned the other pair. Uhhhhh, don't you document your customer refunds and such?
Pearle Vision's policy is elitist and frankly an embarrassment.
