This was my first time at this LensCrafters, let alone any LensCrafters ever. I made an appointment for an eye exam for 5:00 PM. I arrived well before my appointment and was offered the chance to look around at eyeglasses, so I did and eventually found a pair that I liked. I then sat down and waited for my appointment. Everything went well until this point. I was called back after 5:00 PM, and immediately I felt like an inconvenience to the staff. Since I was a new patient, they were having trouble finding what they needed on their end to start the exam, which caused more time to pass. Eventually they figured it out and we started. I was asked if I wanted to have my eyes dilated or have the retinal imaging done. I replied that I wanted my eyes dilated. She immediately seemed annoyed by my response and questioned if I was sure because then she would have to wait another 30 minutes and didn’t want to stay longer than she had to. At this point I already felt uncomfortable, but I still stuck with my original decision. She finished everything she needed to do and then I was seen by the doctor. The exam itself was average and went fine. He then asked me again if I wanted dilation or retinal imaging. I again said I wanted my eyes dilated. He responded by telling me my eyes would be blurry and sensitive to light for 5–6 hours whereas the imaging had no side effects. At this point, it felt less like I was being informed and more like I was being pushed into choosing imaging because they didn’t want to stay later. On top of that, the retinal imaging was going to cost more, and I did not want to incur additional fees for something I had already expressed multiple times that I did not want. I knew what to expect with dilation because this was not my first time having my eyes dilated. Despite that, I eventually agreed to the imaging because I felt uncomfortable and like I had no other option at that point. The doctor then had the technician complete the imaging. As soon as I walked into the room she said, “girl why didn’t you just agree with this from the start, we could’ve been done with this by now.” That comment was completely unprofessional and made the entire situation even more uncomfortable. They then ran into insurance issues on their end, which caused me to be there even longer. I understood that things happen, so that part itself did not bother me. They told me they would call me the next day once everything was figured out. The next morning I received a call and she was nice during the initial conversation. I was told everything could be handled then, but I asked if I could come in during the afternoon instead because after all of the issues, I wanted to make sure everything was correct in person. Immediately her tone changed. She seemed annoyed that I even asked and kept insisting she could handle it over the phone, though she eventually agreed. Later that day I came back in and again felt like I was an inconvenience just for being there, despite there being minimal customers in the lobby while the staff stood behind the counter. I finished what I needed to do and left. At one point during the visit I was also told I was the last patient of the day, which made it clear why I felt rushed through multiple parts of the appointment. On both days I was there, staff members were openly talking badly about other employees in front of patients, which was very unprofessional — especially for a first-time patient experience. There are mixed reviews for every place, and I am not someone who typically leaves reviews, but I was genuinely very unhappy with my overall experience at this location.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
