What is CoolSculpting®? Coolsculpting@ is an FDA approved procedure. Targeted cooling, or Cryolipolysis(TM), safely eliminates stubborn pockets of subcutaneous fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. While the fat cells freeze and die, the surrounding skin and tissue are spared from injury. The body then gradually eliminates the dead fat cells over time. The most dramatic results typically occur around 3 months, though some patients report noticing a difference after a few weeks. Am I a Candidate for CoolSculpting? Typically, good candidates for CoolSculpting are of a healthy weight but just have a few extra pounds of fat that they want to get rid of. Additionally, patients who are good candidates for CoolSculpting also don’t smoke, aren’t pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant, and are generally healthy. During your initial consultation, your physician will be able to determine whether or not CoolSculpting is right for you. How Long Does It Take to Freeze Fat? Session times vary depending on what and how many areas you are treating that day. Treatment cycles take anywhere from 35-75 min to complete. In order to know exact times, a free detailed consultation will be performed prior to treatment. How Much Does CoolSculpting® Cost? Each person’s body fat presents differently, therefore a hands-on evaluation with our CoolSculpting® specialist is necessary to determine cost of treatment. Our consultations are no pressure and completely free! It used to be that liposuction was the only type of body contouring procedure that was available to patients. However, times have luckily changed and there’s a new non-invasive, FDA approved procedure that can help get rid of stubborn, unwanted fat: CoolSculpting How Does CoolSculpting Work? CoolSculpting technology works by freezing targeted fat cells and killing them. Once the fat cells have been frozen, your body will naturally eliminate them over the process of several months; leaving you with a slimmer looking physique. CoolSculpting Elite What Should I Do to Prepare for Treatment? The good news about CoolSculpting is that there really isn’t much you have to do to prepare for treatment. On average, we encourage patients to quit smoking several weeks before treatment and to not take any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen for at least 24 hours before the procedure. What Are the Benefits of CoolSculpting? The biggest benefit of CoolSculpting is that it gives patients real results every time. And, because CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure you won’t have to worry about any sort of surgery or recovery time. Additionally, because CoolSculpting destroys the fat in the body, it permanently gets rid of it. How Long is Each Cycle? How Many Sessions Will I Need? Each cycle takes about 35-75 minutes depending on the area that’s being targeted. The amount of sessions needed will be discussed with you during your consultation. Treatment times vary based off of applicators used. During the first treatment, only about 20-25% of the fat will be affected and so it may require multiple treatments.

What is PRP Hair Restoration? The platelets in the plasma of your blood contain powerful growth factors. These natural growth factors can be concentrated and used to stimulate hair growth. What is the Process for PRP Hair Restoration? PRP Collection PRP is obtained from your own blood sample, so a small blood draw is required. The amount of blood required for treatment is significantly smaller (1/25) than the amount required for a typical blood donation. The blood sample is then centrifuged in order to extract the platelet rich plasma. PRP Hair Treatment: The collected PRP is micro-injected into the hair follicles. A local anesthetic is used to eliminate discomfort. A typical PRP hair treatment session is 30 minutes or less. When Will I See Results? Results can be seen as quickly as your hair grows, however the results of PRP hair restoration are best judged after your hair has had at least 6 months to grow. Is PRP Hair Restoration Safe? This treatment is exceptionally safe, because we are using your own blood products and no foreign substances to stimulate growth. How Much Downtime Required? Downtime for this procedure is minimal and most patients return to work/normal activity after a PRP treatment.

When you smile, laugh, frown, or look puzzled, you contract the muscles of your face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make you look older, sad, angry or tired. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and refreshed.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light): This noninvasive skin rejuvenation skin care procedure uses high-powered pulses of light to improve the appearance and clarity of the skin. This procedure also treats common skin concerns such as dark spots and broken capillaries. IPL is also effective in treating sun damage, acne scarring, and the redness associated with rosacea. IPL penetrates below the surface of the skin, leaving the top layer of skin intact, which means that there is no post-treatment recovery period. The light is absorbed by the pigment in sunspots and the blood in the visible vessels, and converted to heat. The heat dissolves the cells that create the pigment and shrinks the vessels. Reach out to our Bryn Mawr office at 610-525-3800 today to schedule an appointment. The Intense-Pulsed-Light Skin Rejuvenation Procedure Prior to IPL treatment, a topical anesthetic gel is applied to the skin to reduce discomfort. The IPL machine is placed on the settings that best suit the patient’s skin; among the factors considered are the condition being treated and, because IPL is absorbed differently by different skin colors, the amount of pigment in the skin. Protective coverings are placed over the patient’s eyes, and the IPL handpiece is gently pressed to the skin as pulses of light are emitted. The light is absorbed by the skin’s red or brown pigment and converted to heat, which dissolves the pigmented cells. After treatment, the topical anesthetic is removed with a warm cloth, and a moisturizer with sunscreen is usually applied. If there is any swelling, a cold pack is applied for 5 to 10 minutes. Three to six treatment sessions are usually required; sessions typically last from 30 to 90 minutes each, and are spaced approximately 3 weeks apart. Gradual improvement may be seen after each treatment, but optimal results appear only after several months.

Laser Hair Removal: this is a noninvasive treatment that uses a highly concentrated beam of light to penetrate the hair follicle and dissolve the hair directly from the root. Hairs that have been fully treated will not grow back, however hormonal fluctuations can result in potential follicles growing hair. Multiple treatments are necessary in order to achieve a 85-90% reduction in hair growth.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a non-surgical treatment for a wide range of injuries, ailments and chronic pain. This innovative approach uses growth factors and protein from your blood to speed healing and alleviate pain. It is a fast-growing area of orthopedics and sports medicine. These “autologous” injections are derived from your own blood, and are not synthetic or taken from a donor. What is Platelet-rich Plasma? Your body has an amazing capacity to heal itself. PRP therapy jumpstarts and nourishes that natural healing process using your own blood components. Your blood contains platelets and plasma, in addition to red and white blood cells. The platelets and plasma contain proteins and growth factors, which are the desired substances when it comes to therapy. Here is how the process works: Your blood is drawn from your arm The vials of blood are inserted into a centrifuge which spins them around at a high rate of speed The action of the centrifuge separates the various components of the blood, so that the plasma is isolated from the other components The isolated plasma contains many more platelets than a normal sample of blood The platelet-rich plasma is injected directly into the treatment area The growth factors in the platelets kickstart the healing process, and kickstart the production of new cells, collagen and tissue. You should experience pain relief and injuries that heal faster as a result of your PRP treatment. It usually takes multiple sessions to get results, potentially stretching over several weeks or months. PRP therapy may make it possible to avoid surgery and the lengthy recovery that often accompanies surgery.

Laser skin treatments employ focused beams of light energy to counteract the effects on the skin of acne, aging, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, or scars. Laser treatments remove damaged skin and rejuvenate the patient’s appearance. Most of the time, such treatments are sought for the face, but may also be performed on other parts of the body. Reasons for Laser Resurfacing Patients seek laser resurfacing for a variety of reasons. Laser resurfacing may be performed for any of the following reasons: To decrease or eliminate wrinkles or stretchmarks To diminish the appearance of scars To rejuvenate non-responsive skin after a facelift To remove age spots To repair sun-damaged skin To improve skin tone due to melasma or other causes To decrease the size of enlarged pores

What is SkinPen®? SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device, favored by aesthetic providers all over the world. We offer the SKINPEN® microneedling treatment in Bryn Mawr! What Does Microneedling Do? Microneedling induces new collagen production by stimulating the body’s natural healing. Patients will see a reduction in fine lines, pore size, and pigmentation. Microneedling can be used all over the body to reduce acne scars, procedure scarring, stretch marks, and sun damage. SkinPen regenerates and activates your own natural collagen for a more youthful looking skin, smoothing wrinkles on the neck and face as well. What Can You Expect? This procedure is a simple, comfortable, and effective treatment for skin rejuvenation. Most people see results in as few as 3 treatments. Before treatment a topical anesthesia is applied to assure maximum comfort during treatment. During treatment, SkinPen creates millions of controlled mircochannels in the skin. This jump starts the production of collagen and elastin and encourages the release of growth factors that recruit and increase reparative cells. The result is a cascade of healing processes that can continue for months following your treatment. Treatment lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. After treatment, your skin may initially appear slightly pink to red, similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal and should subside within 24-72 hours. Optional Recommended Add-on: Carboxytherapy Gel Treatment is the use of carbon dioxide (CO2) to regenerate the skin. By infusing carbon dioxide into the skin, the body will respond by rushing oxygen rich blood to the tissue. Can be used for the face, neck, hands, and body.
