Extremely disappointing customer service
**response to owner’s comment**
First of all the class in question is from August and not April! Secondly, I clearly stated that I was okay with not being allowed to take the class for being 30 seconds late (life happens but not every business understands that. I get it!) and for losing my credits. The problem is when your own staff incorrectly marked it as late cancellation which resulted into $31 charge. Instead of correcting it, all they said that someone marked it that way mistakenly and they can’t do anything about it now.
Anyway I have found another barre studio that care more about people and cultivate a positive environment! Take care!
Original review:
I read some other reviews after my experience and I totally agree with their assessment. I arrived less than a minute late to a Pure Barre class and was not allowed in. I understood the policy and accepted losing my classpass credit. When I asked at the front desk if the credit would be returned, I was told no, which is ok and then I simply left.
A few days later, I noticed a $31 charge for a late cancellation. The problem? I never canceled the class.
I called Pure Barre, and they confirmed that the front desk employee had mistakenly marked me as a late cancellation. I explained that I was willing to accept losing the class credit, but I absolutely should not be charged $31 for a class I never canceled.
Their response was basically, “Sorry, but we can’t fix it.”
So, to be clear: their employee made the error, they acknowledged the error, and yet I’m still expected to pay for it. Idk and Idc who the money goes to… classpass or PB but it’s PB’s mistake to incorrectly cancel the class.
I understand having strict policies, but there should also be basic accountability when your own staff makes a mistake. I’m also a member at Orangetheory for years, which has strict policies too because of their HIIT classes (way intense than PB), but they manage to balance those policies with reasonable customer service.
This experience made me feel like Pure Barre doesn’t care about treating customers fairly. Very disappointing and definitely not how I expected a fitness studio to handle a simple mistake. I am obviously never going to this place, especially when there is another barre studio on Teal, in case anyone is looking! Btw they are very accommodating and friendly too!

This is a place for people young and old(er) who want to get fit and strong. The exercises can be modified to most levels of fitness. I love it!

Pure Barre is a great workout for anyone looking for a structured class with plenty of schedule options. I’ve tried going to the gym, but I’d much rather have someone guide my workout than plan it myself. I’ve been going for almost three years and have been especially consistent this year. The workouts are challenging, but I’ve never regretted showing up. My membership keeps me accountable, and I definitely notice a difference in my strength and endurance whenever I take an extended break. Each instructor brings their own style, but the class format stays consistent, making it easy to follow after a few sessions. The environment is welcoming and supportive, making it a great place for beginners and experienced members alike.

I've been a member at this Pure Barre studio since it opened two years ago, and it has truly become one of my favorite places. From the moment you walk in, the staff is welcoming, friendly, and genuinely invested in helping you succeed.
The instructors are knowledgeable and attentive, offering hands-on corrections (with permission) and modifications so every class is accessible, whether you're a beginner or have been taking classes for years. One of my favorite things is the variety of class formats. Some days I want to focus on stretching, balance, and recovery, while other days I'm looking for a more challenging strength workout with heavier weights.
There's always a class that fits what I need.
Pure Barre calls itself your "third place," and I completely understand why. The class schedule works well for people with busy work schedules, making it easy to stay consistent. I also love the fun challenges throughout the year, like Bingo, 20 Classes in 30 Days, the Platinum Barre Challenge, and more. They keep workouts exciting and motivating. Plus, the boutique always has cute apparel and sticky socks!
What makes this studio truly special, though, is the community. I've made wonderful connections with both fellow members and the team. The staff takes the time to get to know you personally and even remembers the little details, which makes every visit feel welcoming and encouraging.
If you're looking for a workout that's effective, supportive, and fun, I can't recommend this studio enough.

I’m five months in and loving what Pure Barre is doing for me. The community is welcoming, friendly, but not overbearing. The teachers seem to actually care, correcting poses, etc. I plan to continue taking classes here for a long time!
