- TRTori RoetkerJun 24, 20262.0I came in today for an IV, something I’ve done many times before. I struggle with gastrointestinal issues that leave me nauseated and unable to keep food/liquid down for days on end. Despite telling the male employee twice that pregnancy was not a possibility, I was told I had to provide a urine sample before they would move forward because I was “of childbearing age.” It honestly felt incredibly invasive and inappropriate. I’ve received IV treatments at numerous places over the years and have never once been required to take a pregnancy test beforehand (this isn’t even a doctors office!)—especially after clearly explaining that pregnancy wasn’t possible. The entire interaction felt off and left me extremely uncomfortable. Luckily I was able to go to an urgent care who prescribed me nausea medication and recommended a mobile IV company for next time.
