Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

I do not normally write negative reviews but after the experience I had at this Xenia Kroger Pharmacy with 3 different employees including the pharmacy manager I will never go back to this pharmacy again. The issue started with a medication I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I was using the rest of my previous prescription so I did not open the new script right away. When I did open the pill bottle there was ink on the inside of the cap of the bottle. I wiped my finger over the ink and it came off onto my finger and then again when I wiped the cap with a paper towel. The inside of the pill bottle was clearly contaminated with ink from a defect from the pill cap manufacturer. My medication was sitting in the bottle upside-down on the shelves before I opened it. So the pills were sitting on the ink inside the cap. I called the pharmacy to report this and I was very concerned if the medication was safe to take. When I called, the pharmacist dismissed my worry saying it is perfectly fine and the ink is not a contaminate and they could only give me a new blank cap with no ink and not replace the medication. I was told by the pharmacy manager they reported the ink on the inside of the cap when the shipment first came in and was told it was safe to use by upper management without any checking or verification it is actually safe. The manager told me she wiped a different lid and the ink did not come off so clearly she decided they were all ok. They are currently handing out these defective caps that are contaminated with ink. The rationale was because it is such a small amount of contaminate they are ok to use. That to me is totally unacceptable. Every single other pharmacist and pharmacy I spoke to said they would not use them and I had others say not to take the medication. This is poor practice and I will never trust my medication from them again. AND the pharmacy tech treated me with a level of rudeness and disrespect I have rarely ever experienced in my life. She rolled her eyes at me and walked away like my concerns were not valid and interjected herself into the conversation I was having with the pharmacist with snarky comments. I am just warning people that the people working there are not concerned about patient safety or advocacy. It is shameful to say the least. The manufacturer of the caps said the ink they use on their caps should only be used on the outside and is not meant for human ingestion from their website. And Google from multiple sources says this... "No, printing inks on pill caps—including eco-friendly, low-VOC, or food-compliant inks—are not safe, approved, or intended to be ingested." "Toxicity Concerns: Industrial inks, even those rated as “friendly” to the environment (eco-friendly) or human-contact safe, can contain heavy metals, solvents, and binders that were never meant to be processed by your digestive system." The picture is of my cap after I had already wiped off some of the ink, testing to see if it would come off.
