If you need a team of people who truly care about what your loved one wants for the end of their life, look no further than Queen City Hospice. QCH supported me and my mother through her passing, and the final days of her battle against cancer. they spoke to my mother with grace and kindness, they helped me to understand what I could and couldn’t do for my mom at this time, some helped me prepare for the future without her, all had personal stories and experiences shaping their work with QCH. The nurses we had felt like an extension of family. And now, a year later, while the funeral home is sending me marketing material, Queen City Hospice has sent me a letter acknowledging the first anniversary, promising assistance upon request, and even more resources for how to cope with grief or even volunteer your time if that seems helpful. They really do hold your hand the whole way through. Without judgment. They also got me connected with my therapist . With Queen City Hospice, you and your loved ones are in good hands

My parents moved here from out of state because my mom was becoming too difficult for my dad to take care (advanced Lewy Body dementia). QCH was AMAZING. From Day 1, they were readily available, easy to talk to, always here when needed, very attentive, responsive, communicative, etc. It was a very fast decline in 4 weeks for my mom. Meghan (RN), Missy (social worker), Krista (after-hours RN), and Molly (bedside care at the very end LPN) - they ALL treated my mom with such dignity, care, respect, and love. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them. When I had to be at work and not by my mom's side, and hospice told us that they were now going to do 24 hour bedside vigil, I cried with relief. When my mom passed and Krista came to bathe her body, she did it with such care and respect, it was beautiful to watch. I'm so grateful for each of them. This is what hospice is all about. They did it well.

Queen City Hospice was MIA during my mom’s final days of life at Harrison Trails, when both her and my family needed them the most. My mother struggled hard during her last few hours with no one there from Queen City Hospice to comfort her or our family. They showed up after no one there for four hours as she was struggling to take her last breath. When they promise 24/7 bedside that is a LIE. I can’t stress enough to NOT let them care for anyone you love. Her name was Lois and she deserved so much better. They failed her.

Frequently Asked Questions About Queen City Hospice

Can I quit hospice?

At any time during hospice care and for any reason, the patient or their designated decision maker can make the decision to leave hospice and resume receiving aggressive treatment. You can also return to hospice at any time as long as you meet the hospice appropriateness criteria and have a physician order for hospice.

If I live longer than six months, are the services cut off?

NO – Because no one can precisely predict an end-of-life timeline and patients often improve (and actually live longer) when receiving hospice care, there is no limit on the length of time patients can be on hospice. They must simply continue to meet the Medicare hospice guidelines for appropriateness.
