Brow Lift A brow lift can revitalize a drooping or lined forehead, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Using minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, a browlift involves the removal or alteration of the muscles above the eyes to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty and facelift to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face. Facelift A facelift tightens or excises muscle, fat and skin, producing a more youthful, rested appearance. The facelift procedure only addresses the lower two-thirds of the face. It is possible for Dr Funt to combine a facelift with a brow lift, neck lift, and eyelid surgery. Mid-Facelift A mid-facelift restores youthful vitality to the area of the face between the lower eyelids and the mouth, lifting the cheeks and smoothing smile lines to achieve a natural rejuvenated look without the need to undergo a full facelift. A mid-facelift is ideal for reducing puffiness under the eyes, improving the contour of the upper cheeks, and correcting nasolabial folds. Incisions are small and hidden in the eyelids or in the mouth. Many patients over 45 choose to combine a midfacelift with blepharoplasty or a browlift to rejuvenate the area around the eyes. Neck Lift The neck may sag as a result of aging or weight loss, and is often affected before the face. Loose neck muscles can lead to an appearance of bands on the neck or drastic drooping of the skin. A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can smooth and tighten the skin on the neck and provide a more toned and youthful appearance. The results of this procedure offer a drastic improvement to the appearance of the neck and subtle changes to overall appearance. A neck lift may be performed alongside a facelift, or may be performed alone, after which your friends and family may not even realize that a surgical procedure was performed. Eyelid Surgery It has been said that the eyes are the windows of the soul, they convey one’s deepest feelings and emotions. However, the eyes are often one of the first facial features to show signs of aging. Why do the eyelids sag so early? We blink thousands of times per day. The skin of the eyelids is half as thick as the rest of the face, with fewer internal moisture glands. As a result, eyelid skin is more prone to sagging and stretching. This is made worse by sun exposure, squinting and eye rubbing. Rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty is the oldest procedure in facial plastic surgery and one of the most popular. The result can be subtle or dramatic depending on the patient’s desired effect. It is also the most complex operation in cosmetic surgery. Nasal anatomy and facial structure vary from person to person, and procedures must be individualized for each patient. Ear Surgery Ear surgery typically serves two functions: setting prominent ears back closer to the head, and reducing the size of large ears. Surgery may also be helpful for “lop ear,” “cupped ear” and “shell ear,” microtia, large or stretched earlobes, and lobes with large creases and wrinkles. Surgeons are also able to construct new ears for patients who are missing them from injury or other causes. Chin Implants Chin implants reduce the chin to help provide a harmonious balance to the facial features, improving the facial profile and augmenting a weak chin. By placing a biocompatible implant in the lower jaw, patients can create a stronger chin and even lengthen the entire face. While many patients used dermal fillers to increase the size of their chin, these results only last for a few months and require frequent touch ups. In comparison, chin implants offer patients permanent results that can be customized to achieve your unique desired look. Facial Rejuvenation Facial rejuvenation can mean different things to different people. There are non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments and procedures used to improve slight facial imperfections. There are plastic surgery procedures that can dramatically improve the appearance of the face. All of these are forms of facial rejuvenation. The most successful approach may be a combination of procedures and treatments for a comprehensive facial rejuvenation strategy.

Breast Augmentation Breast Augmentation or breast enlargement is a way of achieving a more proportionate figure. Many of Dr. Funt’s patients say that before breast augmentation their clothes did not fit well and hung on them. Others lost breast volume after pregnancy. Their breasts may have also sagged. They look at breast augmentation as having regained their youthful figure. Breast Augmentation has evolved throughout the years. Breast implants have changed and now there is a variety available. As you consider your options, there are many facts to consider and Dr Funt can be a great resource. The following will give you some insight into breast augmentation, your choices, and what to expect. Breast Lift A breast lift, or mastopexy, is performed to return youthful shape and lift to breasts that have sagged as a result of weight loss, pregnancy, loss of the skin’s natural elasticity or simply the effects of gravity. The procedure can also reduce areolar size (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), and it can be combined with breast augmentation for added breast volume and firmness. Breasts of any size can be lifted, but results last longest when they are originally small and sagging. Breast Reduction Large breasts may cause physical and mental discomfort and can even harm the women who have them. The size and weight of large breasts can result in self-consciousness, improper posture, pain in the back and neck, indentations from bra straps, skin rashes, breathing problems and skeletal deformities. Breast reduction surgery is usually done to provide relief from these symptoms. Performed under general anesthesia, the two- to four-hour procedure removes fat and glandular tissue and trims resultant excess skin to produce smaller, lighter breasts that are in a healthier proportion to the rest of the body. Breast Asymmetry/ Deformity Correction Congenital breast abnormalities are defects in the breast that are present from birth. The most common types are extra, or accessory, nipples and breast tissue. Between two and six percent of people are estimated to have these deformities. Most people with accessory nipples have more than one and they can occur from the underarm to the groin. Sometimes patients are not even aware of their existence because they may be mistaken for moles. Accessory breast tissue is most often found in the underarm area. Breast Augmentation with Breast Lift Congenital breast abnormalities are defects in the breast that are present from birth. The most common types are extra, or accessory, nipples and breast tissue. Sometimes patients are not even aware of their existence because they may be mistaken for moles. Accessory breast tissue is most often found in the underarm area. Gynecomastia Enlarged male breasts (gynecomastia) affects nearly 40-60% of men, often with no known cause. This condition can be highly embarrassing as well as physically uncomfortable. Men who feel self-conscious about enlarged breasts may seek breast reduction surgery. The procedure removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in some cases excess skin as well. The result is a flatter, firmer chest.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow’s feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® injections block nerve impulses, weakening muscles to relax wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms. BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment Details The procedure for BOTOX® is simple: Dr. Funt makes a series of tiny injections into the muscles that are causing the wrinkles or lines in the forehead. The area may be numbed with a cold pack or anesthetic cream before administering the injections. Most patients feel nothing more than a quick pinch or sting like a bug bite. The whole procedure takes about ten minutes. BOTOX Recovery and Side Effects Possible side effects of BOTOX® treatments include redness or discomfort at the injection sites, muscle weakness and pain in the face. These usually fade after the first week. Other possible side effects include headache, respiratory infection, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. How Does Botox Work? Botox in Roslyn Heights & Woodmere, NYBotox is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to smooth wrinkles and prevent new lines from forming. It works by blocking nerve signals to the targeted muscles, preventing them from contracting. This reduction in muscle movement softens the appearance of dynamic wrinkles—lines that develop from repeated facial expressions such as frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows. Over time, Botox can also help prevent deep-set wrinkles from becoming more prominent, making it an effective anti-aging solution. What Areas of the Face Can Be Treated by Botox? Botox is FDA-approved for reducing wrinkles in several areas of the face, including: Forehead lines – Horizontal lines that form when raising the eyebrows Glabellar lines (frown lines) – The “11” lines between the eyebrows Crow’s feet – Wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes Bunny lines – Small wrinkles on the sides of the nose Lip lines (smoker’s lines) – Vertical lines around the mouth Chin dimpling – Uneven texture caused by overactive muscles in the chin Jawline slimming – Botox can relax the masseter muscles, creating a softer jawline Neck bands (platysmal bands) – Reduces vertical neck lines for a smoother appearance Funt Aesthetics customizes Botox treatments to address specific concerns while maintaining natural facial expressions. How Soon Can I See Botox Results? Botox results typically begin to appear within three to five days after treatment, with full results developing in seven to ten days. The speed of onset may vary depending on the treatment area and individual factors such as muscle strength and metabolism. While Botox works quickly to smooth existing wrinkles, continued treatment can also help prevent deeper lines from forming over time. Many patients find that Botox works more quickly after repeated treatments. How Often Should I Get Botox to Maintain My Results? Botox Injections Procedure in Roslyn Heights & Woodmere, NYMost patients find that Botox results last three to four months before muscle movement gradually returns. Treatments should be repeated at regular intervals to maintain a youthful, refreshed appearance. Some individuals may experience longer-lasting effects with consistent use, allowing for slightly extended time between sessions. The team at Funt Aesthetics tailors each Botox plan based on a patient’s unique needs and goals to achieve the most natural-looking and long-lasting results. What Are Non-Cosmetic Uses for Botox? Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes to produce healthy, glowing skin. There are three types of chemical peels, ranging from mild to strong – alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol – and formula strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look. They may be covered by insurance if they are performed for medical rather than cosmetic reasons. Chemical Peels Types AHA Peels AHAs are the gentlest of the three types of chemical peel. They consist of a group of glycolic, lactic and fruit acids that smooth and brighten skin by treating fine wrinkles, dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. AHAs are typically applied once a week, or may be mixed in a milder concentration with a cream or cleanser to be used daily; treatment takes 10 minutes or less. Patients may choose AHAs if they do not want the lengthy recovery time of a phenol or TCA peel. Occasionally AHAs, Retin-A (a prescription medication containing Vitamin A) or hydroquinone (a bleach solution) are used to thin the skin and even its tone as a pre-treatment for TCA peels. TCA Peels TCAs are commonly used for medium-depth peeling (though depth is adjustable) to treat fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems, sometimes in combination with AHAs. TCAs are the preferred chemical solution for darker-skinned patients and may be used on the neck and other areas of the body. Results are often less impressive and do not last as long as with phenol peels, and multiple treatments may be required, but treatments only last 10-15 minutes and recovery time is shorter. Phenol Peels Phenol, the strongest chemical peel, treats deeper skin problems such as coarse facial wrinkles, pre-cancerous growths, and areas of blotchy or damaged skin caused by sun exposure, aging or birth-control pills. Because phenol can lighten skin where it is applied, the patient’s natural pigmentation is a factor in determining eligibility. Phenol is used only on the face, as it may cause scarring elsewhere. Full-facial treatment can last an hour or two and recovery can take a few months, with possible permanent skin lightening and removal of freckles.

Woman often feel more attractive and confident when they have a more prominent physique. Those who are displeased with the proportions of their chest often seek out breast augmentation, a proce-dure that literally enlarges the breasts with implants. With refined skills and a kind demeanor, elite plastic surgeon Dr. David K. Funt has a well-earned reputation for helping his patients to attain the breasts of their dreams. Breast Augmentation Benefits Breast Augmentation in Nassau County Long IslandWomen may choose to enlarge the size of their chests for a variety of reasons. Some of the reasons that Dr. Funt’s patients have cited for loving their breast augmentation include: A curvy, more feminine physique An ability to wear new clothing that did not fit as well on their previous body shape Improved self-esteem Better symmetry between the breasts New social and career opportunities Which Breast Implant Type is Best for You? Dr. Funt offers three main types of implants in order to accommodate his patients’ specific wishes. They are: Saline Implants Saline implants feature sterilized salt water at the center of a silicone shell. Since these implants can be inserted empty and filled with salt water later, Dr. Funt can make smaller incisions, leaving less con-spicuous scarring. In the extremely rare case that an implant ruptures, your body will expel the saline solution without suffering health consequences. Silicone Implants Silicone implants consist of a gel substance between a silicone shell. Compared to the other im-plant options, they most closely imitate breast tissue in texture, thereby providing the most natu-ral feel. As a trade-off, the incisions for these implants must be somewhat larger than for saline implants because they are put into the body at full size. Teardrop Implants Also known as form-stable implants, this newer advancement in implants mimics a teardrop shape. As opposed to the traditional options, teardrop implants better recreates the natural shape of young, perky breasts. Studies have found that these implants are also the least likely to rup-ture. At your consultation, you will discuss all of the options with Dr. Funt to determine what size, shape and material will not only best create your desired aesthetic, but also make you feel the most comfortable.

How Aging Affects the Face Signs of aging may be more visible on the face than any other area of the body. Facial rejuvenation is a strategy using a variety of treatments to combat a variety of forces at work in an aging face. Here are some of the factors that may accelerate facial aging: Exposure to sun, wind, excessive heat and cold. Chemical and biological pollution. Hormonal changes, depleted collagen production, thinning of the skin due to free radical damage, facial bone changes, and slacked facial ligaments. Improper daily habits in terms of skincare, diet, exercise, and cigarette smoking. Medical conditions including skincare disorders, acne, and chicken pox, which may produce scarring. Miscellaneous physiological functions can produce freckling pigmentation spots, dry spots, broken capillaries, and hyperpigmentation from hormonal changes (which may be induced by pregnancy or birth control medications). Genetics. Facial rejuvenation can mean different things to different people. Facial Bones Change with Age A recent ASPS study helped us better understand how aging affects facial bones. New information about shifting bone structure and bone loss has an impact on how plastic surgeons treat patients seeking cosmetic procedures. Changes in Anti-Aging Skincare Today, medical skincare is available to address the specific needs of aging people. Advances have also been made in the area of exfoliation and moisturizing to maintain skin tone and appearance. There are also nonsurgical facelift treatments available to improve skin texture, elasticity, and pigmentation. More effective treatments are becoming available for skin disorders and adult acne. Laser hair removal helps eliminate facial hair that comes with age. Micropigmentation has arrived on the consumer market to assist with hyperpigmentation (skin discoloration spots), thinned lips, and fine hair follicles. Menopause is better understood, making it easier for both patient and doctor to combat aging appearances associated with menopause. Vitamin supplements and natural healing have become popular as well.
