Dr Hauser is a superb optometrist! He takes the time to accurately diagnose conditions and explain them to nonmedical people. He has years of experience and makes it a joy to visit once a year! Jackie and Natalie were most professional, kind and patient in taking measurements and helping with choosing frames! Wonderful experience!

My family and I have been coming to this location for well over 20 years. Dr. Richard Hauser and the other optometrist have always provided the most accurate and thorough eye exams (except for 2020/2021 when there was an issue with how their machines were calibrated - but they resolved the issue). The prices have always been a little more expensive, but to me it was worth it for the quality of the lenses. During my last visit in 2025, I purchased a pair of Armani progressive glasses and a pair of Oakleys. The total came out to over $1,300.00. This is the most I’ve ever paid at this store and I chalked it up to inflation. In hindsight, the frame quality is not worth what I paid. I picked up my glasses a week before they closed for 30 days due to renovations. Within the first two weeks my glasses fell in the parking lot and the metal arm shattered. I did not pay the additional $30 insurance fee, but I figured that since this seemed like a defect, LensCrafters would replace the arm. Wrong, I returned to the Scarsdale location when they reopened after the remodel and I was told by Kim that there was nothing that she could do since it was past 30 days. She told me it was out of her hands and to contact the parent company Loxittica for assistance. I contacted Luxottica and was told that since it was past 30 days the only thing that they could do is offer me $100 off a replacement pair. I paid $1300 and only got one week worth of use out of the frames before they broke. I opted to purchase a replacement arm on. the Luxottica website with screws and hinges for $135.00. Upon receipt, I realized that the arm could not be reattached because it uses a bolt system and I would have to use the same existing hinge where the glasses previously broke. I went back to the store and they attached the new arm the best they could - but it’s uneven. As I looked around at the new selection of frames I noticed that there were high end designer frames such as Tom Ford - but prices were only about $400.00. This is pretty close to what I paid for the much cheaper quality Armani frames. My advice, try to avoid all Luxottica brands. Kim and Jackie have always been very helpful over the years. But with the new Luxottica policy in play it’s not worth paying exorbitant prices if LensCrafters is unable to provide follow up services. After over 20 years, I will not be going back to this location.

Very frustrating experience. I went for a contact fitting and the experience was very disorganized. The doctor didn’t document electronically any of my records from the initial visit and didn’t order the appropriate trial lens at follow up. It was so disorganized I spent over an hour and a half at the visit being seen at the same time as another person and the doctor was all over the place and didn’t sit down and help when I continually said one lens wasn’t working well. The only redemption was management validating my frustration but I still didn’t get a good lens prescription. Bizarrely disorganized and I left frustrated and confused over my prescription without getting a good lens prescription which I paid for.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
