She is amazing. Friendly funny and engaging. I love the fact she is aware of your form and corrects you. She truly cares about the movements your form and ability. I’m so happy to be back. Her classes have become a stable for my calendar. Emilia

I’ve been attending Club Pilates for over two years and have taken classes at Levels 1, 1.5, 2.0, and even 2.5 in Florida. I recently moved and am new to this studio, and unfortunately, both Level 2.0 classes I’ve taken with Dorothy have been very unpleasant experiences.
During today’s class, Dorothy asked me how tall I was and then came over to adjust the carriage/reformer for my height. In a visibly irritated manner, she asked me why I hadn’t adjusted it myself. I told her honestly that I didn’t know how because I had never been asked to do this before. She responded in a sarcastic, condescending tone, in front of the entire class, that “we learn this in Level 1.”
I explained that I am new to this particular studio. I have taken Pilates classes for more than two years at Club Pilates in Florida, including Level 2 and 2.5, and I was never asked to make this particular adjustment myself. Different studios and instructors may obviously do things differently, and I have absolutely no problem learning how this studio does things. What I do have a problem with is being spoken to in a rude, passive-aggressive way and made to feel embarrassed in front of other people simply because I wasn’t familiar with a particular procedure.
This was also not an isolated impression. This was my second class with Dorothy, and both times I found her manner unfriendly and unnecessarily harsh. She speaks very quickly, gives very little demonstration or explanation, and seems focused on everyone moving as quickly as possible rather than making sure people understand the instructions.
My experience with Club Pilates in Florida was completely different. I took classes with many different instructors there, and they were consistently kind, welcoming, helpful, and respectful. In more than two years, I never encountered an instructor who made me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed for asking or not knowing something.
Unfortunately, after two classes with Dorothy, I would not recommend taking her class. I left today’s class feeling upset rather than good after my workout. If you are considering this studio, I would suggest trying a different instructor.
