I'm disappointed that I feel the need to leave this review. Unfortunately, I've had two very uncomfortable encounters with another member that I believe management should investigate.
The individual is an older, shorter, muscular man with a very short red buzz cut, blue-colored contact lenses, who often wears a white tank top and typically works out between **5:00 PM and 7:00 PM**. During my time at the gym, I've observed him complaining about other members and have also seen him have confrontations with staff. Based on my own experiences, I find his behavior intimidating, particularly as a female member.
During my first encounter, he repeatedly stared at me through the mirrors while I was working out, making me so uncomfortable that I intentionally avoided looking in his direction. Later, I learned he had reported me because he didn't approve of my gym attire, even though it was appropriate and no different from what many other women wear at the gym.
Today, before the second incident even occurred, he again repeatedly gave me intimidating looks through the mirrors while I was working out and continued staring at me in the elevator. Whenever I have been around this individual, he has displayed what I perceive to be an angry and confrontational demeanor that makes me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. I have also noticed that he appears to become frustrated when certain equipment is unavailable, and in both of my encounters with him, that frustration seemed to escalate into hostility.
Later, I was clearly waiting for a chest machine after another member. The member using the machine knew I was next. Despite this, this individual walked over, ignored me when I explained that I was waiting, and asked the member how many sets they had remaining. The member using the machine told him that I was waiting and that I was next. Even after being told this, he continued to disregard me and remained confrontational. When I politely explained that I had been waiting, he immediately began calling me "aggressive" and saying I was "inappropriate in many ways." I had never spoken to this man before and had done nothing more than explain that I was next in line. Because of how quickly he became hostile and the way he was speaking to me, I told him he should calm down and seek help, as his level of anger was completely disproportionate to the situation. The interaction left me feeling intimidated and uncomfortable.
This is now the second interaction I've had with this individual involving intimidating behavior, and I no longer feel comfortable working out when he is present. I sincerely hope management can investigate this further and contact me privately, as I would be happy to provide any additional details that may assist with providing more context on these situations. My hope is simply that everyone can work out in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and free from intimidation.
Gorgeous space, a perfect third space, they even have zoom rooms. Went as a guest to the yoga class and it was very lux. Instructors were all very friendly and engaging.

The trainers are absolute gems - very professional and passionate about what they do.
I also love the variety of group classes. There’s something for everyone, and the energy is always amazing.
And the fact that the gym and some studios (yoga, pilates) face the Hudson River makes it even more special!

Just joined and could not be happier. Something that stuck out was when I signed up the amazing tour guide Devin said, welcome home, which I found so sweet and he was very accommodating. But it is true I have been spending much of my time here and love all the facilities and classes so far. The amenities are fantastic and it has entirely turned working out into a positive experience I look forward to because I get a great workout in and then I have me time. I have also felt a sense of community here and made some friends and we go to classes together. Additionally they have events, I have yet to go to one but am looking forward to checking those out. The staff is all so kind and friendly. I recently had my consultation with Brodi to start personal training and I could not be happier. She obviously cares and is super insightful as well as comforting and understanding. Very excited to continue to grow with her as my coach. I love the classes and have tried all different ones, have yet to take a bad one. All the instructors have been great and welcoming, also easy to talk to and helpful with any questions. The lounge space is a huge plus, although the food is just fine, not bad but not particularly good. Would love if they partnered with cook unity or factor or something. My main takeaway is it doesn’t feel performative, pick me, or about showing off as some other luxury gyms are and it also is not a place where people make you feel uncomfortable, feel good and safe there as a female. The overall vibe is authentic clean luxury gym.
My experience with membership cancellation at Chelsea Piers Fitness has been extremely disappointing and misleading.
Before signing up, I specifically asked whether I could cancel my membership before the one-year term without penalties because I was uncertain of my situation six months from now. I was explicitly told that I could cancel at any time without fees or penalties.
During signup, I was never shown or walked through the contract because I was told the device displaying the agreement was “broken.” I was simply asked to sign electronically without the cancellation terms being properly disclosed.
Now that I am leaving the city, I attempted to cancel my membership and was directed to complete an online cancellation form stating that ending the membership would require nearly $1,000 in fees - something that was never disclosed to me and directly contradicted what I was told before signing up.
What’s even more concerning is that after requesting a copy of the agreement, the version sent to me did not contain visible signatures, initials, timestamps, or acknowledgment records demonstrating that these cancellation terms were properly reviewed or disclosed to me at signup.
After submitting the cancellation form, I still received no meaningful follow-up or assistance despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue.
After discussing this experience at my office, I also learned that multiple other people reported similar experiences involving misleading information about cancellation policies.
