Had a deluxe eye exam done today (beyond what I asked for) and bought a pair of glasses. I asked for only the exam required to get my prescription. Store front facing retail staff were great, optometrist was great. But the person who conducted my digital retinal imaging exam was deceptive, remarkably rude, and unprofessional. Before I took the digital retinal imaging exam I asked if this was a standard piece required for my prescription. She laughed and rhetorically asked what I meant by “standard”. I clarified whether it was a requirement. After several attempts at clarification without any attempt at answering, she forced me to the machine anyway, and raced through long instructions with apparent intent to sew confusion. I’m shocked at the fact I now know I asked the right question and she intentionally dodged it to deceive me. I’m appalled, but mostly sad because this is my neighborhood warby.

From the moment I entered to when I completed payment I was taken care of each step of the process and thoughtful and caring ways by incredible people. they addressed all my needs before I even knew I needed them and carefully explained each step of the process in ways that were understandable. I appreciate it, the efficiency in each step of the process, but efficiency with quality and thoroughness. And to top it all off - the aesthetics of the store front and the eye care space were phenomenal!

Do NOT visit Warby Parker. There is a complete lack of communication between store locations and corporate (which is the only contact number provided). You cannot reach the store directly when issues arise. 1. Upselling and Pricing Issues When confirming the cost of an eye exam, expect to be quoted one price over the phone and then presented with a higher cost in-store. This appears to be due to the addition of an extra procedure (likely eye pressure testing) that is not clearly disclosed upfront. I was pressured to accept this add-on three separate times—at check-in, before the exam, and again by the doctor. After declining each time, I was still charged at the high end of the originally quoted range. One “no” should be sufficient. 2. Difficulty Obtaining Your Prescription Make sure to get a copy of your prescription before leaving the store. If you try to request it later, you may experience long hold times, only to be told there is no prescription on file—even if your exam was recent. You’ll then be told they need to “contact the store,” creating unnecessary delays. This process feels intentionally difficult, especially if you want to purchase glasses or contacts elsewhere. 3. Incorrect Prescription and Missing Receipt My prescription was issued incorrectly. I paid for progressive lenses but was given a single-vision distance prescription. Additionally, I never received a receipt for my purchase. When I attempted to follow up, I couldn’t contact the store directly—only the general customer service line, which had no record of my visit on 3/29/26. The only record they could find was from 2015, despite having recently updated my information. This level of disorganization is unacceptable. Consumer Rights (New York Law) Businesses are required to provide receipts as follows: Purchases over $20: receipt must be provided Purchases between $5–$20: receipt must be provided upon request Receipts must include: Business name and address (and DCWP license number, if applicable) Itemized costs Total amount paid (including tax) Date of purchase Make and model for electronics over $100
