The best word I can use to describe my experience with Cancer Care of WNY is nightmare. Nothing short of an absolute waste of time. Dr. Duff and his PA Christina are two of the most difficult people I have ever dealt with, and I sincerely mean that. They did not provide me with sincere and empathetic care, just snarly and sarcastic responses and words without meaning. I am beyond stunned that Cancer Care remains in business, and still chooses to employ two such self centered individuals who do not deserve to have access to vulnerable cancer patients. Appalling “treatment.” I am happily receiving care elsewhere after this horrific experience. I have received zero contact from any higher ups within the company regarding these issues so do not expect to be heard here and treated with any sort of humanity. Please save yourself the hassle and seek help anywhere else!

Our experience here was so bad with my mother’s breast cancer that we ended up moving her care to Roswell. Dr. Duff and his PA Christina were some of the rudest, least helpful medical personnel we have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They refused to answer basic questions about radiation treatment, were openly hostile and dismissive, and refused to clarify any reasoning behind their decision making process. Dr Shah—who was supposed to be my mother’s primary physician— did absolutely nothing to help the situation with extremely limited contact and offered no guidance or care.
Keep in mind, they are the only two radiation oncologists and work in two weeks shifts so you WILL be dealing with both of them.
One of cancer care’s administrative staff answered more questions than they did and she doesn’t even work as an MD or PA. In addition, according to the secretarial staff there isn’t even a patient advocate to talk to!
Most egregiously, my mother had some unexplained chest pain after day 2 of treatment and they recommended we skip a day and go to the er to be safe. We did and got a clean bill of health. Then we came back the following day, they insisted we see 5 different doctors before being treated again. All 5 doctors said my mother was clear to continue treatment. However, upon coming back the following week they told us we now HAD to go to Roswell to get a second opinion. It was clear at that point that it was no longer about making sure my mother could continue care and actually about minimizing some sort of liability. Again, we don’t know because they explained NOTHING.
Because of CCWNY’s incompetence, my mother’s treatment was delayed for a full month and caused undue stress in an already difficult situation. EVERY SINGLE PERSON at Roswell has been wonderful so far, 0 complaints besides the wait times. I sincerely hope I never have to get treatment here because I will be telling everyone I know to go elsewhere.
