About a year and a half ago at age 15, my son decided he wanted to try contacts. It was unsuccessful. Now that he's 17, he wanted to try again. So first I called and asked if they still had the trials that were ordered for him - they didn't (he had only used 1 previously so they said they'd keep the other if he wanted to come back and try again. I did not expect them to still have it after this long, but it didn't hurt to ask). So she said we'd have to start over. So we go in, pay the $80, they find a trial pair that's close to his prescription from his regular eye exam in January, and he tries again unsuccessfully to get the contacts in. We leave and I'm upset about paying $80 for literally nothing. So I go back and question the charge, wondering what exactly I just paid for. The eye doctor says it's for the contact fitting and the exam. Then I said, you didn't do a fitting or an exam. Then he said he didn't have to do an exam because they used his prescription from January. So again, what are we paying $80 for? He said it's for the re-examine with the contacts in. I told him there will not be another exam because he can't get the contacts in. So then he said it was for his professional services and time... there was no eye exam or any service given and my son spent no more than 5 minutes with the man. He explained the difference between daily and monthly contacts. That's literally all he did. He finally reluctantly agreed to a refund... I've yet to see that come through though. Needless to say, we will be finding a different eye doctor.
