I’ve had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any pharmacy in my life. Something has clearly changed at this pharmacy. Whether it’s new management, a major breakdown in communication, or an overall lack of accountability, the level of service has become unacceptable, and in my case, potentially dangerous. I am a diabetic and take Jardiance to help keep my blood sugar under control. I’ve filled my medications here for years without issue. Recently, however, I was told I needed a prior authorization. The problem is that the pharmacy waited an entire week after I requested my refill to tell me this, leaving me without a medication that I depend on. I immediately contacted my doctor, but because of the delay, I had to schedule an appointment, wait another week to be seen, undergo blood work, and spend two full days dealing with appointments just to get everything the pharmacy needed. About 30 minutes after my doctor’s visit, the pharmacy called and told me they had received everything they needed from my doctor and were simply waiting on my insurance. Naturally, I thought the process was moving forward. Then, a day or two later, I received another call saying they were still waiting on the prior authorization from my doctor. I was completely confused. When I pointed out that they had already told me they had everything they needed, I was told that receiving the prescription and receiving the prior authorization were “two different things.” That critical distinction was never communicated to me from the beginning. To make matters worse, they called me around 5:00 p.m., after my doctor’s office had already closed, guaranteeing another day’s delay. I spoke with the manager, who was polite and understanding, but ultimately offered no solution other than saying they still needed the prior authorization. The next morning, I contacted my doctor’s office myself. That’s when I discovered something that was incredibly concerning. My doctor’s office told me they had never received any prior authorization request for Jardiance from the pharmacy. The only request they had received that morning was for my insulin, not for Jardiance. Had I simply trusted what I was being told and not followed up personally, I could still be waiting for medication that I need to manage my diabetes. Because of these delays and the apparent miscommunication (or worse), my blood sugar has been consistently around 250 mg/dL without my Jardiance. This isn’t just an inconvenience. This is a serious health issue. Patients should not have to coordinate communication between their pharmacy, doctor, and insurance company just to receive medications need in order to manage a serious disease like diabetes. I felt like I was doing someone else’s job every step of the way. I sincerely hope this review encourages the pharmacy to examine its processes because what happened to me could have very serious consequences for someone else. No patient should have to endure this level of frustration, confusion, and unnecessary risk just to obtain essential medication. While this situation caused me an extreme inconvenience and some minor medical complications, there’s no way to know what long-term effects it may have. What worries me even more is that there are patients whose conditions are far more serious than mine. Delays in receiving essential medications can lead to hospitalization or even death. I sincerely hope Apotheco Pharmacy takes a hard look at its communication and authorization process before something far more serious happens to someone else.

Great pricing, free delivery. Overall, very convenient and so much cheaper than Walgreens. Delivery took a little longer than anticipated but worth it compared to the money I saved.
