- WFWilliam FranklandMar 4, 20163.0Haltom Orthodontics did my braces and headgear when we moved to New Mexico in 2003 while I was still a kid. I have pretty decent teeth now, so I'd certainly rate them as proficient. However, their permanent retainer has been giving me constant problems, and I'm 25 years old now. I have to pay $100 every year or so to have it reinstalled because it breaks. If I were eating something strange that was causing this, maybe I'd understand, but the orthodontist is becoming increasingly dismissive of my questions when I try to figure out what might be causing this (these retainers almost always last 10+ years). Customer service is awful.
