  This was my first experience staying at a rehab facility, and I was understandably very concerned because of a difficult experience my mother had in a nursing facility years ago. Having also visited family and friends in other rehab facilities, I had always felt that most were very similar. After my knee replacement surgery, I needed subacute rehabilitation and chose Parker at Somerset. I had previously visited the facility when a dear friend’s mother was a long-term resident, and I was impressed even then by the welcoming environment, the staff, the rooms, and, most importantly, how happy the residents seemed. My own experience exceeded my expectations. From the admission team and social worker to the nurses, aides, recreation staff, PT/OT team, and kitchen staff, everyone was caring, professional, and genuinely supportive. They made me feel comfortable, cared for, and confident throughout my recovery. I left Parker at Somerset feeling stronger and much more confident about continuing my recovery at home. I am truly grateful that I chose Parker at Somerset and would highly recommend it to anyone needing rehabilitation care.

  While celebrating my 53rd Wedding Anniversary in the Dominican Republic, I slipped and fell and broke my femur in six places. I could not travel in that condition, so I had to have the surgery in the D.R., which was a nightmare. I returned to the U.S. two days later (I was so thrilled to be home) and was sent to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital to be checked out before going to acute physical therapy at J.F.K. Hospital. While at J.F.K., my wound kept leaking causing me to be sent back to R.W.J. Hospital. It was determined that I had a severe infection and had to have emergency surgery to clean out the infection. Five days later I had to have another surgery to replace all the hardware that the D.R. Hospital had put in. After a recovery period from my third surgery, I was sent to Parker at Somerset for additional recovery and rehab. My brother had been at Parker at Somerset twice and that was the only place that I wanted to go due to their excellent reputation. (I have to add that the care I received at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital and J.F.K. Hospital Rehab was also excellent!!!) I could write a book about the fabulous care and treatment that I received at Parker at Somerset and it probably would not contain everything I want to say about Parker. The accommodations are wonderful and the building is so clean and beautiful. Due to the severity of my infection, I had to be on a PICC Line for an hour and forty minutes day and night for the first six weeks of my stay. All the Staff at Parker are AMAZING!!! There are too many individuals that I want to give a shout-out to so I will just say that the Doctor and Nursing Staff, CNA Staff, PT Staff, Dining Services Staff, Recreational Staff, Hospital Administration-Social Worker Staff, Cleaning Services Staff, Maintenance Staff and any other Staff that I did not mention were EXCEPTIONAL. The love and care I received was incredible. It made a horrific situation bearable. I am one that dances through life and I could not even stand or take care of the basic needs for myself. The compassion and understanding from everyone and my strong faith in Jesus enabled me to handle my situation. The gratitude I feel for everyone at Parker could never be measured. I was very blessed to have a lot of family and frienies visiting me on a constant basis. My Grands range from 29 to 9 and they all felt so welcome and comfortable coming to Parker, as did everyone else. The atmosphere is so inviting. Another wonderful part of being at Parker were all the events and activities that are held for the patients and residents ongoing. There is always something to keep your mind off your troubles. I was upset that I was going to be there for my Birthday, but the celebration they gave me was wonderful and brought me so much joy. And, everyone helps out to make sure all have a great time at all the events. I loved seeing the happy faces of the staff. The goal of all the staff there is to ensure the wellbeing of everyone. I was so impressed with all the events and activities during my two-month stay at Parker that when I am fully recovered (I am currently home and in out-patient physical therapy and still have a long road ahead of me due to the severity of my injury) I intend to return to Parker at Somerset and volunteer. I would like to occasionally teach a dance class and help serve during lunchtime meals. I also enjoyed playing Rummikub with my resident frienies and look forward to doing that again. If you are looking for a beautiful, clean place with exceptional staff to rehab or permanently live, I would highly recommend Parker at Somerset. Parker made a big impact in my life when I really needed it!!!

  It's great, only problem they don't have rooms available for those with non-private insurance.

  My wife Lorraine has been an in house rehabilitation patient throughout June and July 2026. We have been "BLESSED" by the bright airy atmosphere, the highly professional, friendly staff, and multitude of entertaining and engaging programs planned, and carried out by the staff (singing, dancing, serving). GOD Bless ALL... You ARE Treasured!!!

  Both my mother and husband were in Parker at Somerset sub-acute at the same time. My mother for 1 month , my husband 2 weeks. My mother has had previous experiences with sub- acutes and when we knew she needed to go to sub-acute rehab following her hospital stay she expressed not to go to back to any of them and I felt the same. We were very fortunate that both my mom and husband were accepted to Parker at Somerset. My mom was admitted a few days before my husband. From the moment I entered their main entrance I was greeted warmly by their receptionist and the same followed with the entire staff including Administration, nurses, doctors, PA’s, PT, OT, ST, Social Workers, and most importantly the caring, compassionate, so very kind and thoughtful Aids. Aids are such an integral part of a persons’ recovery. When I requested to speak with a team member I always received a call back or a visit to my family members room while I was visiting within a reasonable amount of time. My husband has returned home. My mother transitioned to their Long Term Care. Without reservation I highly recommend Parker at Somerset for both Sub-Acute and Long Term Care.
